Outer diameter of the spring ?
Inner dia?
Length?

If in good condition, is the shock an OK suspension or what?
I know Öhlins is top of the line but maybe the Marzocchi is fair enough f the 907?

Hi Gert,

the Marzocchi on the Paso/907 is better as the one on early 900 super sport belt types.
But in my opinion still down the line. to much tatty plastic parts.
That's why I swapped to a Proflex shock.
nearly as good as Öhlins, but more afordable and completely serviceable.
compression, rebound, spring preload, it's all there.

Track down a rear Marzocchi shock for the 750 Paso and fit it to your 907. Far better shock absorber. The original 'narrow' Marzocchi is an out of date design and although the same unit as used by the World Championship team back in 1988 has a very poor response at high speed, prone to slides and a hard-tail feel. Makes me wonder how they won races with it really.

I think you will find that either of them are much better than the standard Marzocchi. Those Wilbers shock absorbers look very nice.

A fair shock, good enough for a tourist bike.
For sure, the Ohlins are better and more expensive than the Marzocchi.
So, on the later Paso 750, Ducati started to spare fitting the Marzocchi instead of the Ohlins...
Ciao

For me, Marzhocci feels much harder in 907, than Öhlins in my 750 Paso. I have tried to adjust my Marzhocci many times to be better when driving alone, but its too hard. It function enough well, when driving 2 up with luggages. 750 Pasos Öhlins is much sophisticated unit and its still maintainable in Öhlins maintain with new spare parts. I can feel differece easiet, when i try push bikes back to down fastly from rear grab handdle. 907, is like rock compared to 750 Pasos Öhlins.... Both are well maintained with right inside pressures / new spare parts, by Öhlins maintainer.... Öhlins was too expensive to Pasos, cause they wanted Paso to be big markets Ducati and they get from inside markets of Italy much cheaper Marzhocci units.....

I have Öhlins also in my ST4S, as its made from best available parts, if thinking about all ST series bikes. ST4 hade much poorly Showa unit, what was replaces later to bad Sachs unit.

I have also changed to my ST2 Öhlins unit and that Sachs is now for sale. That Öhlins i get from one ST4S what was wrecked. I have also changed to my ST2 Öhlins front springs, cause ST series bikes have such character, that in hard front braking OEM front springs tend to be too soft and when srings go to end of they travel, You loose your bikes steering abilty totally and then easy to fell down.... That have happen here to one ST2 owner and luckily he managed to survie, but bike was totally "piece of shit" after falling down. He had to use front brakes hardly to avoid crash with elk.....

I would say, that i like much more Öhlins in my 750 Paso compared Marzhocci in my 907IE.

That Öhlins have very good remote control knob to adjust spring preload... very easy to adjust it, not like in Marzhocci unit.

I have also "spare one" 750 Pasos Öhlins for waiting repairing and ill put it to one of my 907s one day....

Öhlins products are propably best, what can be found from markets, but surely Öhlins is not cheap.... But its 100% maintainable for resonable price... :smoke:

I havent tried to find new spring to Marzhocci.

Just measured: Spring is made from 10.84mm material(my digital gauge have also some tolerance!) and i use just now length of 158 mm of spring, but if need to know lenght of it in "free space", then it have to be measured , when shock is in rebuild process and out there....

I hope, that U get some usefull info from my mail....

Measured just also outside diameter: 71.07 mm, so if You take from that away 2 X 10.84 mm, u get inside diameter close 49.40 mm.

Inside diameter is too hard to measure accurately, when spring is on, so this is only calculating now.....
