I cant find from owners manual, or from workshop manual any hints to adjust preload of rear spring.... ![]() Anybody adjusted ?????? Is it only "feeling" ??? I hope no, because it not so easy to adjust rear shock in bike, but mine is now in maintain table, so now its easy to do it !!!! ![]() ![]() |

I am speaking about spring LENGHT ADJUSTMENT in mm (ok, also inches can be converted here) driving ALONE, driving WITH PASSENGER and WITH PASSENGER WITH FULL LOAD in side bags(3 cases).... As You know, in 907 that spring preload adjuster is not so simple to adjust without taking absorber away from its place... Btw, that spring preload adjusting manouver is very simple in 750 Paso Öhlins with remote knob.... I LOVE ÖHLINS compared to Marzhocci unit... ![]() ![]() |

I understand that measuring the lenght of the spring is an easy way to check and/or adjust your rear suspension. I go with Gert to start with basics as pointed out in the Öhlins site. convert this into your own measuring of lenght of the spring. you simply can not copy the results of someone else as the circumstances are different. I use the standard rear spring of the Marzocchi on a Proflex body with very good results. Still I have some fine tuning to do. Ducbertus |

I dont have rear shocks just now in any of my 907s, so its hard to start measuring sag, etc..... Seems, that i put lenght to 180mmm, cause its easy to do just now(schock is in table). I only wanted to know, what lenght of spring guys use, but seems, that nowbody knows, no matter, its very easy to measure..... ![]() |

Performance Bikes published a booklet that gives a complete guide to suspension setup. They start off with setting static sag, then compression damping and rebound. It doesn't matter that your shock is a Marzocchi. I will give you a rundown of their advice when I get home and read the booklet. |

Here is what you need to do. At the rear end of the bike mark a point on the subframe or seat unit directly above the the rear wheel spindle and run a ruler from there to the wheel spindle with the wheel off the floor. Take the bike off the stand, sit on it and measure again. This is the static sag. You now have 2 numbers they should be aprox. 30% of wheel travel Most modern sport bikes have 125-150mm of wheel travel so you will want 35-45mm of sag. Your manual may tell you the amount of wheel travel for your 907. Set the compression damping to number 3, set the preload (little click stop knob at the bottom of the shock) to 11 clicks out from fully wound in. If you are carrying pillion and luggage then it is common practice to increase the compression damping until you have a firmer ride (try number 6). |
