Hello all

My Name is George, 26, from the good ol' state of Maine in the USA

Well I am new to this forums, joined to learn about the bike I have. I have 4 motorcycles, not including the Ducati and a VW trike (I built) So bikes are not new to me, just the Italian ones ;) I have alwasy wanted a Ducati, preferably newer, but o-well.

I have a 1992 (I am pretty sure) Ducati 907 I.E. Sport touring bike Plastic is bright Red, white lettering, absolutley perfect plastic, white wheels. Aluminum colored cobra exhaust. Runs ok.

My questions, what is a bike like this worth?

The bike has a choke on it, but everything I keep reading talks about injectors, and fuel injected, this bike is not fuel injected is it? Cant be? Also is it me or is the fuel pump very loud?

Well I want to go thur this bike and give it a nice tune up.

I need a repair manual
List of things to check? What to look for? I know the usuals, fluids, chain, tires, etc..

but anything special where it is a Foreign bike?

I have noticed, it seems to be very cold blooded, also after revving the bike it sometimes stalls out.
The tach does not work either. ( I will have to investagate)

Any and all thouhgts, idea's, opinions welcome.

Thankyou all very much

George

Welcome! :)

http://ducatipaso.org/docs/907/manuals/

If you have 320 mm front brake discs, it is a -92.
IE means electronic injection.
Tach wire probably broken.
New belts if you don´t know f sure when last replaced & check valves.
Worth like 3-3500$ if in good shape.

What would there be for belts?

Where the heck can I buy parts? I have googled this bike and can not come up with much, nothing even on Ebay!

Thanks

George

Greetings, George, I'm in Massachusetts, near Boston, and there's at least two more 907s near me (and on this forum).

When I need parts, I get my Ducati dealer to order them (I use Seacoast Sportcycles in Derry, New Hampshire), but in Maine, no doubt that Moto Milano (in Windham I think) could help you, and there's always Great Bay on Rte 1 in North Hampton NH, and of course, BCM in Laconia. Some parts are not available, and this forum has lots of pointers, and yeah, some on ebay, too.

You can download the parts and owners manuals, too, I think, on this forum, along with the service manual. Anyway, I've learned a lot from these guys on this forum.

Take a bunch of pics and post them here, and believe me, you will get an immediate and detailed response on what you've got there. ;)

PS --

and maybe join the regional forum www.nedoc.org where you will meet Crystal848:

"Crystal.
Ducati parts & accessories gal at MotoMilano, Windham ME.
Owner of an 08' 848 and 01' M750"

There are very few Paso owners on NEDOC, but lots of good info on general workings of all things Ducati. NEDOC member "Hankster" is in Maine.

Well I downloaded the "so called manual" not much to it, does not tell step by step how to do much.

For instance where does the motor need to be to check the valves?

Also if there is a filter and other things in the tank, how the heck do you get to them?

Also Can check and adjusting the FI be done at home? Any write ups or instructions?

I also found out why the tach does not work, the nut that screws the cable on to the tach guge is missing.

Thanks
George

you need the 906 service manual, too. The 907ie manual is an add-on to it and describes only the differences like fuel injection etc. You`ll find that also in the downloads.

I like the maintenance manual from http://desmotimes.com/. He has some parts, too, not any less $$$ than a dealer, but they arrive at your door.

Also, forum members have identified mistakes in the manual downloads, and many are happy to translate from the Italian ;)

I've been using Mobile 1 syn oil, the 15w-50, around $8/qt at Autozone. This gets me endless lectures from the NEDOC forum, something about gear shear and how I have to use 4T M/C syn, and spend $15-$18/qt, and change it every 3K miles, but I just ignore the hectoring lectures. 20-50 oil would be OK too as far as I'm concerned.

Spark plugs, I went to the NGK site and ran the application. etc.

So, what I guess I'm saying is there are lots and lots of good sources of information and parts out there. I got my 907 last September and this forum helped me a lot in tracking down what I need for the bike.

Welcome George, you will find all you need on this forum mate all you need to do is ask or use the search link, what you need to do though is stick a few photo's on here for us all to see, I guarantee you will be told what is or isn't in the right place or missing.

I am in the process of rebuilding mine with lots of bits worn or damaged :banghead: and endeavouring to take ongoing photo's to put online which may help others locating and rebuilding/maintaining their bike. There is plenty online already about the engine side of things.

The important part to remember is there are folk on here willing to help just ask and be patient we like to ride our bikes aswell as sit and play on the computer.

Yup, Thanks

I hope t post pics tonight.

I have all the plastic off the bike right now.

I am going to flush the coolent system tonight with distilled water, ( coolent bottle was nasty on the inside, I cleaned it out and flushed everything nicley.
I added new plugs
I degreased/wiped down the whole motor and frame.
I checked the belt, it looks good.
I cleaned and relubed the chain
I Changes oil and filter

I need a tach cable, mine is there but the threaded colloer that holds it onto the gage is missing.

Bike runs good, just needs a little TLC.

I want to check the valves anyone have a step by step for doing this, the manuals seem to lack info/details it seems to me. What are the gaps for the intake and exhaust?

is there anything after I take the valve covers off to show me when I am at TDC, or BDC?

It sucks the closest Ducati dealer ship to me is 4 hours away!

Thanks
George
