Is anyone on the list familiar with an EPROM that is labled " Fuel Injected Motorcycles" 907 BPG2 Slip-On Mufflers.
I'm sure it is a performance chip, but do not know as to what level. The bike runs quite well, but also runs rich. I just replaced it with a Ducati 23U chipand want to see which one performs better this weekend.

Thanks,
Preston

Has the bike has the airbox opened up? I think if you do a search here you'll find your question has been asked before with the suggestion you call the FIM guys and ask them direct what the chip is.

One thing for sure the 23U chip is the leaned out USA spec original chip. Not sure what the consequences of running it in a mod'd bike will be - maybe nothing but I'd be calling FIM!

Cheers
Andrew

I think you'll find that FIM have gone under so aren't contactable any more. Here is their old website including the EPROM application table http://www.fuelinmoto.com.au/lastindex.html

I believe the BPG2 became the UM021.

The original chip will run leaner but should be safe - keep an eye on plug colour just in case!

in terms of "performance" there won't be much between the two...
it might be observable on a dyno or in CO emissions testing; unlikely that the chip alone will make that much difference.
the U21 is suited to staintune and Termi exhausts

I would say, that it fits also with ALL samekind "open exhausts" as Termis, or Staintunes... IF they are really samekind mufflers("quite open").. there are many such mufflers... :smoke:

FIM also altered ign map, temp corrections + some small things to make the bikes perfomance overall run better on many of their chips. Maybe not many horsies but improved driveability.
If the FIM chip makes your bike run rich, try w giving it more air (=remove airboxlid & see what happends).
Uchip is US chip and the most restrictive (leanest).
FIM is out of business & will only answer specific service/guarantee issues.

I tried the U chip, and couldn't tell the difference in performance, but it leaned it out quite a bit, too much. I put the FIM back in and did the airbox modification. While I had it down I checked compression, 120 psig on each cylinder. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet though. We are finally getting some more rain. I'll take it for a hard run when it dries up outside.

I'm pretty sure you have a FIM chip for "after market" slip ons. Here is a picture of the European chip (023) which has a richer mixture than the American chip (023U) because of the emission stuff. The other chip in the picture is an un-programed chip (the exact chip Ducati used, but there are newer versions) that you can buy. To erase and clear it you flash it with UV light through the window. After programming it you put a piece of tape or something over the window to keep light out.

Because FIM has given up business, it isn't possible to get any chip more.
Can (better, do manage) nobody extract the code from the FIM chip to copy on a blank chip?
Ciao

Here is a page about programming eeproms and what equipment is needed. Motorola eeproms are readily available, even old ones like from the Paso

I know how to burn an eeprom and I also have some hardware.
Really, it would need the .hex file of the FIM chip UM021 to burn another blank eeprom :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: .
Ciao

ONLY WAY to "go on" with different chips(to get best performance) is make dyno runs ..... With different available chips, OR to have some normal FIM 907IE chip with FIM software in pc and finetune chip with FIM software with dyno runs.... I still think, that FIM normal chip is best base to start, but finetune it needs FIM software surely and dyno time... one of my Ducati friend here have such software and he can do mods to older FIM chips, what are not protected against "illegal burning"... my ST2 FIM chip is protected against copy, so its "hard work".... :smoke:

sorry, guys, i havent have so much time to look paso sites currently.... greetings from Finland..
