Apologies if this has been asked before but:

Can you fit a 907ie Paso motor into a 750 Paso?

Yes, if you have a spare 907 ie to cannibalize engine, electrics, shocks, wheels and bodyworks...

Unfortunately not - I would have to buy both - but I know where there's a dog of a 750 and there maybe a 907 coming up for sale BUT can it be done?

Easier would be to try and find another air oil cooled motor like a 900ss - less plumbing to do

ALternatively just dress the 907 in the 750 bodywork ?

If your matter is the engine, you can search an Elefant 900 one. It's air cooled but you'll need camshaft from a M 900 and fit air filter and exaust

See what you're saying Duc750 but the 750 Paso is physically smaller than the 907 and I was looking for 907 performance in a smaller bike but still want a Paso so . . .

I thought that if I stuck a 907 motor in a 750 I'd get the best of both

907 is heavier!

Hi Nicola - I'm not sure that the Elephant motor will work as it's air cooled and the Paso bodywork will probably not allow sufficient cooling.

Really, it can be done.
The friend nojapan did it.
Actually the 907 is not so bigger than 750 even if heavier, for sure because of the engine.
The frame is quite the same but the 906 and 907 have the fixing points for the water cooling system.
Good work

Rhino

Where do you get the size difference from ?

There's a weight difference sure but the only size difference (in wheelbase) comes from the larger wheels requiring a longer swingarm (and I guess the slight increase in length from the fork).
It really is marginal though. Frame is the same. I believe even Yoke offset is same.
Park my 750 and my 907 next to each other in the garage and its difficult for someone to tell the difference that doesn't know what they are looking at

With anything other than Paso series engine then you do get issues with swingarm fit etc but if you're thinking about you fall into one of three camps:

1. Handy with a spanner
2. Have a desire to get handy with a spanner
3. Know someone who has lots of time and likes tinkering who will get handy with a spanner

I guess 4 would be the combination of 2 and 3

Best person to ask is probably Paso 750 as he has considered most options when looking at his Paso. He also knows a thing or two about Elephants (and Gileras and Vespas and Audis and Alfas........ :D )

For me the ultimate would be to fit a 4 valve engine in there performance wise but that is a hell of a lot of work and trauma
The 4 valves as you'll find out from yours have a different character and I don't actually think sound as nice as the 2 valve engines.

installing a 4 valves means gain 15 hp in maximum power and lose the largest part of the torque at low rpm

Duc750 - I have to be honest, 20 odd years ago, I used to have a 750 Paso - my first real bike. I have a 907ie now and I have always had the impression that the 750 is very much smaller. Hey - I'm getting older my memory (and other bits!) are not what they used to be.

I was under the impression that the 750 is much smaller and lighter than the 907 so - if that were the case there would be some good cause to drop a 907ie into a 750. If however they are the same size - barring wheel sizes - then there's no point at all.

Only just started thinking about this option so no work yet done and no money spent (thank God)

As it was mentioned the height difference comes from wheels and swingarm/forks. The tires alone are 5cm higher.
If anyone considers a Cagiva Elefant 900 engine note that many or most of them had small valves. One of the things a lot of Cagiva Elefant 900 riders therefore do is swap the cylinder heads.
The easiest way to get more power from a P750 would be to buy a 907ie do a 16" wheel conversion and swap the front fairing screen with the one from a 906. Not to forget the redo of the paint scheme.
Not, that I`d never considered this.
