Post subject: | New adjustable preload rear shock |
Hi guys, just thought someone may be interested in what i fitted to my 907ie. The standard shock was rebuilt but the rebound faded out after a short period which was the original problem. I was warned that rebuilds on these are not always successful. I purchased a new rear shock (marzocchi) from ebay for a 750/906. Prior to buying it i asked for the dimensions and compaired it to my original. The hole centers were the same so i thought i`d give it a try on the 907. Here are some pitures. I had to wind the preload down about 10mm using the lock nuts to set the ride height after i noticed the tyre had rubbed a bit on the plastic under guard with a pillion, that was with the extra preload wound up from the remote adjuster as well (backed right off when solo though). The shock fells good now i think i have it sorted out. It doesn`t have compression damping only rebound at the base. |

Nice...how hard was it making up a bracket for the preload adjuster? It didn't just bolt on, did it? Sam |

that seems the old marzocchi unit fitted on the PASO 750. I got one of those, it is basically the same as the 907 one (overall dimentions), the only big difference is that the spring is different, the 907 one is 2 times harder; then the internal setup will match the harder spring, however I was told it could work also as it is. |

Hi, yes i agree the spring may be a bit soft. It doesn`t seem to be an issue solo though. I will be trying source a harder one i think. The original spring won`t fit as it is shorter. The Bracket i made for the remote adjuster was fitted using the 2 bolts holding the rear brake master cylinder. I paid roughly $150AU for it. PS, I don`t understand? I couldn`t get the pictures to work in the first thread, now they are there? Sorry poeple that you have to look at them twice............... |
