Just come the moment to replace old tyres.
I'm thinking to buy a couple of Pirelli Diablo Rosso II but my mechanic disagrees.
He has told me the 907 is too heavy for those tires and he's advising to buy a less sporty tire.
Really, I don't ride so much the bike, so I'm not interested in some tires which allow many kms.
What do you think about?
Ciao

You sure he is not suggesting - in a polite way, that you need to go on a Diet    :fart:

Are these not the standard tire for the Diavel ? 463 lbs and 162 hp

Tell your "mechanic" to put down the crack pipe and enjoy those tires Francesco

I wouldn't bother with a sports tire on the 907 - its not so much about weight though its more about use - if you are using it hard in corners thwen maybe but if so you probably have atleast an SS
I've track dayed sports touring tires before and they are fine (actually very good on a wet track)
They just don't last long in the fast group (not on a 907 I might add)

Personally I'd go for (in order)

Conti Road attack 2
Avon Storm 2
and probably the new Pirelli Angel (i think its the Angel - the repalcement for the Diablo strada series of tires)

Experience wise I have the Road attack 1s on the 907 and they are excellent especially with a 170 rear as they make the bike very quick to turn in. They are also truly excellent in the wet as long as you are prepared to trust them.
I have the Avons on a VFR 750 (also in a 170 rear) and they are a little less quick to turn I think than the Contis but very stable and stick well in the wet

The Pirellis I've not tried but I have always liked Pirelli tires on a twin - sports, slick or sports touring.
Tires are always a personal thing though which is a bit of a shame as they are not cheap.
One thing though I would really not recommend a 180 on the 907 as you will slow down the steering on an already slow to steer bike.
Also I would not recommend Dunlops as they can be quite slow to steer too (Birdgestones the same) due to the profile of the tread and carcass.

For what its worth I like my bikes to turn in quickly and be very stable in corners when they are settled. I also like a tyre to break away slowly and controllably in the wet - some tyres just let go (my experience of Michelin Pilot Roads).

Just my 2 cents at the end of the day

personally I have the Dunlop Sports on my 907 and they work just great for me

I also like the Pirelli tho a little noisy when compared to others they have excellent wet feel and are always predictable well beyond my skills

I think Michelin Pilot Road 2 dual compound is very good match f 907.
Turns easy & adequate match tire life/grip.

For pure road use:
Metzeler Roadtec Z6 - Lasts nearly forever, really good grip in dry & wet conditions. Used the tire on the track once, you can feel the limit very easy, but limit is not too high.

For really sporty road use & track:
Metzeler Sportec M3 - high limit, perfect control, ok in wet conditions. Makes the 907 feel lighter.

The new M5 seems to be a little soft for our bikes. The K3 is not good in wet conditions.
