Post subject: | 1993 paso 907 ie fast idle...very strange |
When my 1993 907 ie american model is warm and running fine, of late when I come to a stop, instead of the idle being normal around 1200 RPM, it is idleing at 2500-3000 RPM. It is as if the cold start choke ( fast idle) is engaged, but it's not. Sometimes I can clear this problem by shutting the bike off, and restarting, but not always. It never misbehaves from cold start of the day, but could rear its ugly idle head in approx. 20-30 miles. Does anyone know what this is...ha anyone else ever experienced it. Any help would be heartildly appreciated. Best Regards, Shiny |

Here's a thread about idle issues. MIne was the opposite... a low idle. May provide you with some other things to check out. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1752 |

wow, who would have thought there would be this much information on the idle issues. Well, I'll start from the beginning and clean the contacts as well as all cables and relevant connectors. Let's see how I do with that. Many Thanks for all the info and the threads !!! Regards, Shiny |

Hi Shiny, mine wasn`t as bad. But i found the nut on the LHS of the butterfly shaft of fuel injection bodies, can rub on that funny looking coolant hose, causing it to stick. I also sprayed that end of the shaft with contact cleaner to remove a build up of dirt around the choke spring arrangement. Then gave it a light spray with inox to keep it free. All ok after that. Fingers crossed. |

Thanks Davo, Another good recommendation, and I will check that too. I was also wondering if their is an electronic solenoid that might have gone bad that oversees electric current to the fuel pump. I'll begin with the cleaning of the associated parts and see if I can make progress on the issue.. Many Thanks, Shiny |

I would go with davo: Check the shaft and nut on the throttle bodies linkage rubbing the hose. With time the hose gets limber and expands when warm. This rubs againist the nut at the end of the throttle shaft and causes high idle. The fix is a large nylon zip tie, maybe like the one heating and air conditioning contractors use on duct work. Get one and pull on the water hose againist the frame with everything cold making sure nothing is hitting the shaft. Then when the hose warms, it will not be able to rub the shaft and nut. Worked for me. du907 |

Thanks for being there gents. I'm going to do everything you say and suggested. Imagine a nylon tie-off curing the problem. That would be sweet, I'm trying that one first because it's easy. If it fixes it, we'll celebrate !!!!! I normally don't have that kind of luck, so I think after that, a proper cleaning all around and checking the fuel pump solenoid and connections. I am so pleased that this forum exists because it contains veteran Duck riders and a plethora of info. Many Thanks to all Shiny... |
