It haoppened to me once and I found that the problem was due to Oxidation of the Battery connections.

I could turn on the dash, all lights, horn and pump were running well, but NO starter.

just by chance I found out that it was a dodgy connection.

the other issue could be that your starter needs overhauling.

Last but not least, are you sure the solenoid is working well? sometimes it click but inside it is wornout and the power does not reach the starter.

You can disconnect the main electrical cable that goes to the starter and touch it directly to battery positive side to see if the starter motor runs. If so then it is back up the line from the solenoid back to the battery. If the starter motor does not run when positive cable is touched to battery, then look at the starter motor.

Easy now, francie, first things first. :)
Is battery fully loaded & well working?
How long since you last started/rode the bike?
Is the starter buzzing/make any noise?

The battery is fully charged and manages to start my red 907.
By now, I have got only one battery (Odyssey PC535).
Last time, I rode the bike on May when I fell down     .
The starter does not buzz, nor make any noise. Dead!
The solenoid does a good "click", so I would guess it works.
I'll try to connect the starter to the battery and I'll let you know.

The relay clicking doesn`t necessarily mean it`s working. Measure if you have the 12V output to the starter when you press the starter button.
You can also try to toggle the emergeny stop switch while pressing the starter button or slap the starter relay with your flat hand while pressing start. I`d put my bets on the relay (solenoid).

voltage drop across the solenoid will pin it down

or from the positive bat to the starter

Finally the bike has started
So, you will ask who's won the bet.
I think nobody.
I got ready the multimeter, a spare solenoid and the jump cables.
First, I would have brought the positive directly on the starter by passing the solenoid.
But, it was not necessary.
Fairing taken apart, first to disconnect the solenoid, I just took it away from its stand.
So, I told myself. Why not try to start the bike first?
Pressed the start button and... the bike started.
Afterwards, I checked the connections and took some (very little) corrosion away from the nuts.
The bet???
I guess it was only one of well known Ducati gremlins...
Ciao

.......................................
Later, little trip to the sea to celebrate the success with a friend who's got a great 998.
Coming back, the bike stopped and did not start again.
A few seconds of desperation.
Took the seat away and... I forgot to connect the positive wire of the regulator (Electrex)...
How can I be so silly???
Luckily, I had got the right spanner so a good shove was enough...

Post subject:  Re: Dead 907 :((((

a voltage drop test from the bat to the starter would have found that one

it`just like many things. To keep them working they need to be used constantly.

Ok, I'm going to try and win with this ;)
You said you found corrosion on some of the nuts. Have you used wire snips to make a hole in the rubber boots that cover these nuts so that water will drain from them after washing or riding in the rain?

Post subject:  Re: Dead 907 :((((

If you seal the rubber boots up with some grease or dielectric silicone ya dont need a hole to let the water in or out

ya still have to check their tightness from time to time
