Hi everyone. Im new to the board and I am in the process of looking my first 907ie. I have several bikes now mostly from the late 60s to early 70s with one 1996 Moto Guzzi. I happened to see a 907ie in a private collection and I thought it was one of the most beautiful bikes I've ever seen. Im open to any advice, suggestions, likes or dislikes about the 907ie. I really don't know much about these bikes and Id like to go into a future purchase with some ammo. Thanks in advance.

Michael

prices range from 2500 to around 4500

since this one has a Corbin, Saddle bags and Exhaust...If the ecm has been chipped
more towards the 4500 if it has had a recent servicing. Belts, Valve adjust that sort of thing.

Exceptional examples do on occasion go higher here but not often between private sellers.

Dealer prices don't often go higher either.

In other parts of the world where they are fewer 907 they often go for much more

92-93 ? colors is about it.

Hi BostonPaso

You didn't say where you're located but I'll assume from your "pen name" that you're in Boston. Pretty damn cold in Lincolnshire this time of year but no snow yet at least - or anywhere else in Great Britain come to that.

I think you'll have to pay about £2,000 for an OK bike but that would be the bottom price for a decent machine with history and a low mileage and don't forget to check if the toolkits there! There are idiots out there who get quite anal about toolkits and handbooks! A really good one (low miles, Full History, few owners and immaculate paint/chrome/alloy etc) will be closer to £3,000.

In reality service history is everything because - now you've decided you're having one - you're going to buy one anyway so you need to know when and IF the bike's been loved. The most important moving part in any engine is clean OIL. You're a collector - you know this.

If I hear of a good one for sale I'll let you know, and, in anticipation - Welcome.

This bike is still for sale (seriously thinking about it). Is there a particular reason why you did not buy it?

Not sure what I may be getting into here.

Also, does anyone know what the seat height is on these (looks like an aftermarket seat). I am vertically challenged (5'6") so I don't fit on many Ducs (but I would really like to have one).

Thanks in advance.

Looks pretty good.

Which years had the painted black motors?

I have one of the bikes that came from the factory with polished ports and head work.

As my friend always says about the 907ie everytime I think about selling it,
"people who know nothing about motorcycles know it's a Ducati, and people who do know something about motorcycles know it's a rare Ducati".
That is way I never sell it, I just fix whatever breaks, and whatever I break. 61,000 miles now.

It is the last series of 907 ie, with the 320 mm brake disk front and golden Bremo callipers.
Finding a suitcase rack is extremely difficult and still on my wishlist

2 Valve engine is very reliable, gearbox as well. Spares could be difficult en become member of an exclusive club of enthousiasts. Mine does about 1 ltr on 20 km not to sporty driving style. 17 Inch wheels so tires no problem. . . .

For reference, I've got mine up for sale on CraigsList in Boston:

http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/mcy/3059417424.html

It's in similar shape to the one you posted. At 3,500 I haven't gotten a single bite, and I'm not interested in selling it for less. I'm probably going to pull the ad; I had to get rid of a bike or two, and I think I've managed that.

So, I wouldn't pay much more than 3.5K for the one you're looking at. At some point people are going to realize these are worth more, but it hasn't happened yet.
