Hey people,
I recently purchased a gorgeous black 92 907ie that had been sitting for about 5 yrs in a garage. I took her home and flushed all the fluids, cleaned the tank, fuel pump, throttle bodies, and injectors, replaced all the fuel lines, went through the TPS calibration (set to 150 mv), and when I was working on the balance with a vacuum gauge I noticed a lot of fuel coming out through the vacuum lines. I'm not sure if this is normal but when I had the lines disconnected the idle speed was steady and smooth but when the lines were reconnected the idle surges and then stalls out. I wasn't able to adjust the CO2 (no meter) so that is the only step that wasn't completed. is there a correlation with the idle or is the idle problem something else?

BTW She has been bored to a 944 and has Stayintune pipes and the slip on muffler eprom in the ECU.

Thanks in advance for the help'

TJ

I'd say that fuel coming out of the vacuum lines is not normal. The fact that it idles well when the vacuum lines are disconnected but doesn't when they are implies that the fuel mixture is too rich, either because the air bleed screws need opening or the mixture screw in the ECU needs setting.
I'd tweak the mixture screw first and see how it goes. Don't worry about not having a CO meter, adjust the screw for the position that gives maximum revs then reduce the idle by adjusting the airscrews by equal amounts.
Brad Black gives a good account of setting up throttle bodies in this article:

Yes I read the article after my post, good info, however I am faced with a bad regulator as the amount of fuel coming out of the regulator through the vacuum port is substantial and am searching for an alternative to the oem do you have any suggestions?

I hadn't gathered from your first post that fuel was coming out of the vacuum connection of the fuel pressure regulator. I don't know of a replacement, perhaps one from an 851 or 888. A regulator from a later bike ST, SS, Monster, etc could probably be adapted to fit, or a generic regulator from a car. As long as the pressure is the same.

the pressure in the fuel lines should be 3 bar or 43 PSI.
basically any regulator which can be set at this pressure will do.
851/888 and probably 916 strada's and some Monster are the same as on the 907.
Or you can try to open pressure regulator and replace the membrane, as I'm pretty sure this is the culpritt.

Update:
Found an aftermarket universal adjustable pressure regulator for a reasonable price and modified the mount only slightly to get it to fit, adjusted it to the recommended 3 bar and it seems to be running fine after finishing the tune.
Thanks again for the help.
