I had the 907 fired up for the first time this year yesterday since rebuilding the top end with the ST2 barrels, pistons and ported heads that I acquired last year. Thanks to Bertus for the tips about machining the horizontal head for the tacho drive. I've reset the TPS, balanced the throttle bodies and set the CO and all seems to be working fine. ![]() While I was painting the ST2 heads with VHT satin black I took the opportunity to remove and repaint the engine covers at the same time so it's all looking good now. I just need to fit the bodywork panels back on and wait for the snow to clear ![]() |

Well done, Derek ![]() I fired up mine a few weeks ago, in the expectation to go out for a ride. But it's still freezing and salty on the road. this week I'll buy new belts, because the old ones are now 5 years. About time to replace them. But I can't wait to drive Bertus |

Good question, Gert! Derek, with these changes in the mechanical parts of the engine a remapping can be fruitfull. running lean in some area's of the powercurve can damage the engine in long terms. Bertus |

Hi Derek, it is not only the 40 cc. but the combination of 40 cc, much higher compression (1:9.2 upto 1:10.5), ported heads, which increase the flow and the changed camshaftprofile makes you get a total different bike. the portings is increasing the airflow into the cilinder, so more air comes into the cilinder with the same amout of fuel. ergo, leaning of the mixture. in your case I would opt for the Dyno-run, getting the maximum out of the engine. This will let grow your smile for a full size more. and yes, it is not the cheapest way Bertus |

I'll heed your advice Bertus and look into doing something about it later this year. |

Did you paint the valve covers the gold color? If so, what color of paint did you use? Anyone have a suggestion on the goldish color of the valve covers? I have heard a Honda color is close. du907 |

Why not gold plate them and finish off with a coat of p.o.r 15 hard as nails! ![]() |
