Hi there, My 907 starts perfectly when cold. But after a ride and short stop, the engine still warm/hot, the starter motor rotates very slow and hardly turns the engine. Finally after a few attempts the engine starts. Next morning no problems, starting perfectly again. Battery is almost new. any ideas? |

Check the condition of all the battery , starter, and earth cables , especially the crimped on terminals , and if that don't sort it next is the starter solenoid /relay and then the starter itself. There is a kit available to replace all the cables ( search tech stuff here ) and this apparently is the ducks nuts. |

eletrical resistance of a conductor does increase with heat. Which effect that has will depend on the condition of the wiring. I`d remove the wires from the battery, starter relay, starter and clean all contacts first. Then do the same with the ground wires from the battery to the frame/engine and try again. Do check if you see any corrosion on the wires (copper rust). The Motolectric kits are the ones but you can also get some made (i.e. by your local car stereo shop). |

The electrical cable upgrades that most are talking about is: http://motolectric.com/makes/ducati.html I hear this modification really makes a difference. I would check all the grounds and connections of the cables as mentioned. There are some ground places under the tank towards the front. Good luck. du907 |

Problem solved. I removed all cables and cleaned all connections. Especially the connection on the relay coming from the battery was heavily corroded. The starter motor now rotates happily also with a hot engine. Thanx all for the help |
