I need a new swingarm for a 1993 907ie. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who: *Has one to sell *knows of someone who has one to sell *knows where I can get one *knows what other models if any use the same swingarm.
Thanks Sheldon

I`ve only seen one for sale and that`s in really bad condition needing some welding due to the so commonly reverse installed wheel spacer. No other model uses that swingarm.

I was referring to that one. I guess Kevin`s swingarm can`t be worse than that.

Yes Paso750, you're right; my swing arm is in excellent condition, and it's on a 1992 7.500km bike that I got only last week...
I thought I would let Sheldon make up his mind about whether he was interested in the eBay item. It may well be that his own swinging arm is beyond repair, and this one can fairly easily be sorted. I'd be tempted to try a 'Lumiweld' or 'Alumiweld' repair, which might avoid any possibility of distortion through welding by using only a butane torch.
Kindest regards,
Kevin

Not so sure I would use lumiweld type products on a swing arm or any other structurally stressed part.

Why not? Lumiweld claims to have superior tensile strength to aluminium, and whilst the swinging arm is made of an alloy, and will be stronger in any case, neither of the worn areas are subject to much tension, compression or deformation. With regard to the swinging arm available on eBay, the damage is not in critical areas subject to stress or strain - they are due to chain wear and an incorrectly oriented spacer. Neither area is critical for structural integrity in my opinion, and is evidenced by lack of fractures or failure in the areas in question. If I wasn't bothered about looks I'd leave the chain worn area, and on the area by the wheel spindle slot... just dress it with a file and maybe use JBWeld to repair the depression. A scruffy but pragmatic repair perhaps...?
