New issue has just started occurring, if the bike is idling, and I put it in first gear, sometimes the engine dies. It starts straight back up again, but if I keep engaging and disengaging first gear, after a few attempts it will die again. The other thing is while Im shifting in and out of gear , without motor running, the fuel pump will prime occasionally? Is there a sidestand cut out switch or a clutch switch on this bike. I thought the sidestand was just a warning light? thanks again.

Most likely you have a loose or corroded to the point of broken wire or connector. Personally I would start by jumpering the fuel pump relay and trace it out from there.

well, this hasn't improved, staring jiggling the wiring in between the front of the seat and the back of the tank and the fuel pump started cutting in and out. Ok I'm onto something , thinks me!! Went to start it, it cranked a few times, and then, everything went out, no ignition, no dash lights nothing. All I have is the clock whirring away, everything else is dead. Interestingly , if I turn the ignition on, the clock stops!!! I know bugger all about bike electrics, but would I be right in assuming I have a bad earth wire somewhere? all 4 fuses are fine, unless there is another hidden somewhere? thanks
