Hello Group
This has nothing to do with Paso's, and if is too far off topic, just delete it, but I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the valuation of Vintage Ducati racers. Someone has offered to trade me one of my bikes for a 1964 Ducati factory F1 250cc racer. He has been trying to sell it for about $70,000 USD. I know some vintage Ducati models are extremely pricey. Has anyone any idea of the value of a 1964 Ducati Factory F1 250cc Racer? This is supposed ("supposed") to be 1 of 15 made by Ducati.

I just had a look in The Ducati Story by Ian Falloon, he really knows his stuff. The 250 was called F3, growing to that from 175 in 1960. The 250 was developed from the 175 with a 74mm special cast liner and produced 32bhp. Production ended in 1962, there were no more catalogued production racers apart from a small number of 250 and 350 SCs Mach 1/Ss up to 1965.
I would think you are looking at one of the latter. Sounds a lot of money for a 250, I would want some documentation and history anyway. Livio Lodi Ducati Museum curator is very helpful and speaks good English.

Yep thats it. He was telling me its worth $72,000. I contacted the Ducati museum. They said that their older records went missing during one of the many change of hands of the Ducati company and they did not get involved with valuations of bikes, but that certain actual factory racers have sold for large prices. But this bike is not in racing trim, and that he would consider it to be a Custom and not a restored racer. The owner has pictures of a F3 racer that is supposed to be this bike back in the day. I decided not to mess around with something expensive I dont know anything about. He wanted to trade my 1922 Hazlewood outfit AND my 1938 Zundapp K800 for this Ducati. I thought about it and declined the offer. I would not trade either one of them for it, much less both.
