As everybody knows, "right" gearing depends driving style, roads, wanted RPM:s, speed limits, etc things. We have here in Finland maximun speed limit 120 km/h (only in motorways), maximun speed is 100 km/h in big highways and 80 km/h in normal twisty roads, so we really DONT need high top speed at all. We have plenty of twisty roads with good surface, what are just for Ducatis. If i want to enjoy my life in Ducati saddle, then i go to those twisty roads for fast driving and i surely want to keep my RPM in right area(about 5500-8500), where 907IE engine runs very well. For all that i use 15 in front and 46(!!!) in rear. Then my top speed is under 200 km/h, but for me about 120-150km/h in those twisty roads(ok, lucliky no polices there so often) here is very good speed and then i can "control" my Ducati engine, suspension, characters, etc. best way. I dont like straight highways at all, so that 15 / 46 gearing is optimal for my driving in twisty roads in my 907IE.
As I told, gearing depends many things, so everybody shall be happy with "own gearing" and i dont want to make any war about this thing. 15 / 46 fits PERFECT to me and i stay in that..

Honestly have to say, that my 907 have very many improvments in engine side, so with that gearing front wheel is very light, but that is not ANY problem to me... Also starting to street with 15 / 46 gearing is much easier and clutch least longer, cause its also easier to clutch..... also much easier in town cities

btw, my 907 dont have any "flat spot" problems, no matter what is engine temperature....

and for "loud bike" i use ALLWAYS ear plugs, when driving my bikes.....
