Hello All,

Setting up a 1990 750 Sport for my wife. She has short legs, around 29" inseam. I am looking for a rear shock that I can set the ride height way down. I have looked at WP and they do not show a shock for the 750 sport, but show one for the 750 Paso. Any ideas on if the Paso shock is compatible. Also any ideas on what type of shock I can use to get the ride hight that low?

Thanks

Joe

hmmm tricky one. Cheapest option would be to have the seat re-sculptured to take some meat out of it - though it may be a bit less comfortable.

As for the shock - i think you'll be lucky to find a shorter one for this bike. Only thing i can think is to have an original shock 'engineered' to make it shorter - this would mean shortening the shock body, damper rod and spring - then there may be side effects like chain length

Dont know where your based, but here in UK, we have Kais suspension who ive heard good things about, + some other smaller suspension companies. I think you need to approach a specialist suspension set up firm.

Just my thoughts - good luck.

Ant.

Thanks Anton for the tip,

I think you may be right on the re-engineering of the shock.

Cheers

You may have heard this already, but just lowering the rear may change the front geometry in a bad way. You need to lower each by the same amount and then reset up the suspension. The Sport has a different frame than the Paso so I doubt the shock is compatible, Can you post a pic of the shock and mount??

the Pasos shock is one of the longest Ducati shocks.
The one of the Sport is shorter and connected to the frame and to the upper rail of the swingarm just like on a Supersport.

you might try a shock for a 750/900ss i think the mounting is the same but the swing arm is a little different so the shock is either longer or shorter then the sport shock. i cant remember which but i am almost positive it will work. post it if you try. i would like to know if my memory still works. blaster

The shock mounting for the SS series and Sport are identical. The shocks are interchangable. The 750SS shock is shorter by a 1/4" than the 900SS. I believe the Sport shock is the same as the 900SS shock.

So, if you want to lower the bike for your wife, get an aftermarket shock for the SS series that is adjustable. Or, get a shock from a 750SS (dirt cheap) Also, drop the forks a bit in the clamps. I'll assume she is light and won't compress the forks all the way anyway.

But shaving the seat is a better option. I have a Corbin for sale if you are interested. It sits pretty low, and has great shape. My butts too big for it. $150

Cheers,
