Only to share with you.
On my "new" black 907 I have changed oil, filters, coolant, brakes/clutch fluid, replaced timing belts, checked valves' clearance, new spark plugs.
Today, I washed her.
When I started her, damned battery light ON!!!

Tomorrow, I'll check again with the multimeter.
I wonder, perhaps it only was the water of the wash...

Thanks Antti,
on the evening I'll check my mailbox.

I'm just coming back from the garage.
My crap 5 € chinese multimeter says there are 13,8 V steady from 3000, up to 5000 RPMs. So all it would be right, I guess, according with the sheet from Electrex "Fault finding chart for motorcycle charging system" wich states that a voltage between 13,5 and 14,8 is OK. But, the battery light is always on      .
She tends to switch off when the revs go higher, but she never switches fully off.
What do I have to check again?
Ciao

Your voltage is just 100% right ! Did U connect multimeter DIRECT to battery terminals? (what is only way to know right voltage in battery!)

Anyway that "light whole time on" feels very strange.... U can also check CURRENT with multimeter, but then You have to keep meter in enough big (right surely) scale, that U dont burn Your meter. multimeter connections must be 100% sure then !!!

That Electrex diagram is VERY GOOD so, its better to follow it !!!!!!!!!

Yes, I connected the multimeter directly on the battery.
Before starting the bike, the battery had 12,45 V and later I started her to check the voltage and I saw those 13,8 V with the engine running.
On the magazine "Mondo Ducati" (Ducati world), I read about a guy with a '95 Monster with has quite the same problem, even if on his bike the light switches off at higher revs.
The technician of the magazine said the generator can be a little worn. No matter, he said didn't worry until the battery is right charged.
As soon as possible, I'll check all the connections and I'll remove the connections welding the wires.
I don't want to see my bike catching fire anymore (as the red did) :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: .
Ciao

The regulator catched fire when I was riding the bike. First, black smoke, later fire         !!!!!!
Luckily, I stopped the bike and the fire put out.
No matter, the regulator "warned" me, because the battery light was flashing for a while before that bad accident.

I am 100% sure, that u have some problem in charching system... That stator can be measured with insulating meter that all is ok there. If i would be U, i wouldnt run bike anymore before look closer whole that charge system. Its stupid to loose also generator with regulator, if some conncectors are dirty, or shortcutted.... That rotor coast quite doubble compared to regulator! U can loose also battery, so take battery terminals off, when U stop your bike!!! Then it cant start to fire... and dont loose battery!

There can be some shortcut and if its so, then its very serious thing....... Shortcuts are more bad things, than bad connections/connectors...

Keep me updated by PM!

Btw, i am wondering now, if charge voltage is ok(like seems to be) and then regulator shows that warning light sometimes? Very strange! It CAN be also, that some of those rectifier diodes have failed and it doesnt give anymore full current to battery and then that warning light start light.... U should chek, what happens to battery voltage, when warning light comes on! Any changes? If no, then regulator function normally, but if some voltage drop, or something, then regulator have failed(maybe)...another possibility is, that stator have failed so, that if enough RPMs, then it start to "leak" current direct to earth. That means then new stator.... That failure can be measured by insulation meter with high voltage(normally about 500V). Fluke multimeter can give only 9V to terminals in resistant scale, so its not good tester for insulations..... no matter its very good meter....

Its not so simple to try help from her, cause bike is in Italy and meters are here..... :smoke:

The battery light is always on, and was on even when I checked the voltage (which were good 13,8 V) with the engine running at 3/5000 RPMs.
Do you think it can be the some "wet" problem after the wash (even if I made a very mild wash, only with sponge and water tube of the garden. No high pressure!)?
I'm thinking about my wife's car which yesterday - under a thunderstorm - started to give bad messages as "ESP fault" which later disappeared.
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

ASAP, I'll clean all the ground points and hi current connections.
I'll let you know.
Ciao

If voltage is good, like it is and only warning light stays, it means, that there is some problem in rectifier/regulator. U havent done any electrical mods to your buike close times, so i quess, that its not problem with wrong wiring now. seems now, that its wet in some connctions, or failed regulator.... As i told, dissconnect battery wires, when You stop bike !!! Its safe then ...... That warning light gets "feed" from regulator, so seems, that regulatos show, that something is wrong. Its only stupid light from regulator!

Can You follow Electrex fault finding diagram????

Its big pitty, that bike is not here..... Anyway U dont have to worry too much, cause that is Your 2. bike and U have whole winter time to figure out what is problem....

Next step i wuold put ampere meter between regulator output(+) and battery + terminal to see, is it charching, or no.... meter MUST be in RIGHT SCALE !!!!! about 10 A is quite suitable scale.

I would say, that those round connectors between stator and regulator (907IE) have to cut out and weld wires direct and insulate them very well.... Its very common problem in many 907s and i have also suffered from that problem, but i was lucky, that i didint loose regulator, or stator, or maybe battery.... :smoke: I realized in "last minute" in my bike and now i do same mod also to my last 907 with those wires..... :)
