One bulb in my taillight kept breaking.
Replaced it and when it breaked again, a fuse broke and ECU was dead!
Replaced bulb & fuse and was up & runnin again.

Q1: Is tallight & power to ECU on the same circuit/fuse?
Q2: Seems like a bad idea, any alternative wiring?

Or did I have another electric/wiring problem?

At a glance it doesn't look like they're on the same circuit, but I didn't look too closely.

Repeating blowing bulbs is usually a sign of a bad regulator letting too much voltage through. I'd check your regulator carefully before putting a new ECU in there; there's a good chance it's cooked. Or just replace it with the ECU.

Good luck,

Sam

no expert on electricals but will add this idea...

the ECU is on the 25 Amp fuse
the tail light is on the same 25 Amp one BUT the brake light appears to be on the adjacent 15 Amp fuse...

I'd pull out the offending tail/brake light globe holder and wiring and make sure you don't have a short between the brake and the tail light...both tail lights are on the same circuit wiring right up to near the assembly...if the same lamp is going each time it would indicate a localized problem.

typical of brake/tail combo globes is to fit as a twist-type bayonet fitting; if the contacts screw around you can get a short where the globe contacts bridge the plug contacts. I can't be sure...but sometimes because the globes have "handed" retaining lugs the globe might be inserted the wrong way (brake/tail instead of tail/brake) and some people will force the globe to twist..resulting in screwing the contacts.

NEVER FIT brake/tail globes with the power on.

also, if you are in doubt check the regulator on an oscilloscope; a multimeter does not show AC spikes. Unlikely the regulator would blow ONE tail light consistantly.

Did that Your fuse blow AFTER, or BEFORE You changed that bulb??? I was thinking fastly this(what happened to me one time). I changed old/blown rear BLINKER light bulb(in my 750 Paso) and after that i started to use blinker in first corner with result, that my fuse blow from that circuit. :,( I went home and started to locate what was wrong and i noticed, that when i changed bulb, that small copper plate in bulb holder(- pole) was moving to end/deeper in that holder and it was touching to + pole of blinker bulb holder. So, it was shortcut allways, when i put blinker to that side and surely blown fuse! I would check first those bulb holders if You had changed bulb before Your problems started

Thx guys! :)
