Very good Higgy- but I won't know how far away that bridge is from home or be sure to get to it with the fuel I have on board without a speedo/odo cable, will I?

if your casing is still good you can get a universal kit from places like motionpro - then you just cut it and crimp to the size you need.

I actually changed out my speedo to an aftermarket job and used a kawasaki kz casing - which was just about exactly the right length- and the motionpro cable-- so far so good.
