hello there,

guys, I`ve got a problem with starting the bike.
after pressing "start" I can hear only "crunck" (or sth like that :) from the "starter solenoid"

It helped some times when I get into 2 or 3 gear, release the clutch and push a little bit Paso.

now, I have to hit the starter (that small thing under the engine)..

so, it`s problem with starter ;) I`m going to have it serviced next week.

but the question is: should be the oil let off before removing the starter?
I`m asking cause I`m going to change oil and oil filter and dont know whether to do it before
or after service :)

another question is: how often should be the oil & filter changed?

I got my Paso last year (soon there will be anniversary :) ) and changed this stuff about 11months ago.
I havent ride a lot, only about 6000km...

what do you think about it?

regards
greg

So when you tap the starter, it will start?
And solenoid clicks everytime?

look in the user manual :)
oil change according to manual every 3000km

do you have to drain the oil to remove the starter? I would do so.

is hitting your starter harmful for your bike ? For your starter it can be. If the brushes are worn and you hit the starter the brushes can jump out their guide and cant which can ruin the rotor.

Do not hit the starter !!!!! ever !

You will break the permanent magnets inside. :(
These starters don't have copper winding field coils, they have solid magnets that will shatter to pieces if your hit the outside case.

On car starters you could "tap" the solenoid on the outside because they sometimes stick, your solenoid is under the seat and is probably ok.

Drain the oil, take off the right hand side cover (two of the starter bolts are under there - one thru a hole in a cog) and remove the starter and get it checked.

Hopefully the magnets are ok.

Sitting on the bike it's the left cover :-)

But it's 99% the brushes and they can be replace with the starter in the bike.

If you need, I can search in my backup and post again...
