Hi, Nigel from Melbourne Australia here , first post, looking to fulfill my second automotive dream and buy a Paso/907. [The first is my 928S4!]

Not too many around here to choose from but I have till Feb before I go on the Zaidees Rainbow ride from Melb to the Gold Coast and back, a little 4000km jaunt.

I really love the Paso look, I even painted the fairing of my old Suzuki GSX250F "Across" red to get the paso look!!!
So despite the 16" wheels and what seem like a life time of carburation issues, I am still wanting to pursue a 906 and maybe a 907 if the budget grows! My preference is certainly a 907

I have been rather tempted by a 900ss as they are more plentiful , plus 17" rims , more parts etc, in other words a more practical choice and on the Ducati.ms forum many posters seem to think you can tour on them with a bar change and seat, but I would like the bike to be comfortable for my wife as well, and despite some posters saying thay are great I am unsure, any comments would be appreciated on comparing the two bikes.
It has been suggested I get a ST2 but I don't like the look to be honest

I have seen these pipes on ebay but I have searched for ages to see if they are 'original'Contis or replicas.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT
Any ideas?

thanks, been spending way too long reading the forum posts, like the feeling, reminds me a lot of the passion 928 owners have, thanks, Nigel

Well I just finally answerd my own question, in the 750 tech I found the exhaust pipe section and there is a pic, Conti 2 into 2.

Still any other comments on the 906 vs 900ss would be of interest.

I am also following a 906 on ebay, but its in Sydney and I am in Melb, about 1000km.
May bid any way if its cheap enough....

read Jaffa`s post. To what I remember he bought his bike about 5.000kms from home :)

I don`t really know the Supersports, but as the name already says they are not tourers (the Paso isn`t either but still more than a SS). Sitting position is low and forward, the seat is small and I`d guess the Paso`s tank is also bigger.
Not to forget that Supersports you find everywhere. :)

G,

Thanks Jaffa,
brilliant info. I had already read your posts, smiled a lot at the adventure! Fabulous.

Not sure if the budget can stretch to a 907 yet, depends a bit on what I can sell on ebay to fund my fetish!
Most 907s seem at $8500 to $11,000. There are maybe two for sale in Amaroo ACT, but I have found the web ads can be very old. I called about a 907 in Brisbane to hear it was sold over a year ago!
Looking at the 90 Paso on ebay at the moment, was $6000 which I felt was too high, so now lower bidding, also Bob Brown has one lying around so I am trying to get an idea what he wants for it.
Thought I might get a 906, even 750 just to at least get on a bike, then save some more and get a 907 when I have the time to wait as I only have 3 months to find a bike.

I did bid on the Contis, but went way over what I wanted to pay before I even had a bike to put it on!
Worst case senario is a CBR1000F, save more and wait for the right 907 to come along. Its not good to feel desperate when buying and i generally would try to but the best rather than just what I could afford. I paid top $ for my 928 as its generally been much cheaper than buyng a shitter and bringing it up to my standard.

Thanks again for you offer to answer questions
regards Nigel

Not a worrie Nige,

Happy to help where I can, as will just about everyone else in the site.

Everyone here will do what they can to make sure the marque survives and those that have them enjoy the experience. If nothing else, you will become a better mechanic.

All the best mate.

Nigel,

I have both a 750 Paso and a 900SS. I have toured on both many miles and find that tho they are very different bikes they both tour very well. I have done more than 1000 miles per day on each and was able to ride the next day :-) The 900ss has a Corbin seat as does the paso. It get's in the 47 MPG range at a brisk pace with no issues. So either will do in a pinch.

The 907 is the best paso to own if you can swing it. It has all of the evolution upgrades as well as 17" tires. It's a real modern moto.... If you go for the 906, tires will become a real issue and you will 99% sure to have to upgrade to 17's at some point.

Don't buy the Honder. Get a 900SS as a last resort.

thanks Jon
I like the idea of the Honda instead of a 900SS as then I wouldn't be in any way tempted to keep it !
That would end up being at least three bikes, 900, a paso and my Lambretta LI 150Ser3. I figure if I can fix this a Ducati can't be too much harder.....
My wife is a bit concerened about reliability, I kinda skirted the subject!
I ride a MTB so perhaps my wrists and rear end are pre conditioned to a 900ss position!
Thanks so much for your information
regards
Nigel

Happened across this 907 today from across the ditch. Looks pretty good though a little high on K's. Price is very good with the current Kiwi/Oz exchange rate and shipping from the Shaky Isles to Oz is about $600, which would make the bike worthwhile. Additionally, there is a V2 sticker on the front of the fairing which may or maynot indicate some performance upgrades from one of the most reputable tuning houses in the world.
(this is a paste of the webaddress, not a link. Havent figured that out just yet). :banghead: :banghead:

Hmmm nice find, it looks OK, but I don't like the black on the screen. Most likely too far away and too hard.
I think I need to get a RAW approved importer to import it, more costs to add, but I will call them on Monday and check the prices
Napier is in nowwhere land, a few hours from Wellington, so shipping is just that bit harder!
I have been searching for freight costs, where do you get shipping for $600? Cheapest so far is around $1600 one way.
I got quoted $400 just from Sydney depot to inner Melb last week!
cheers
