Any sources for an alternate sidestand down switch that does the same thing as the Duc one? Dealer here wants $135 for replacement. I have power to the wire connector but nothing to the actual sidestand switch itself. Plunger lubed and moves but nothing. New bulb in dash. Thanks.

do you measure a short when you disconnect the wires from the switch and put out the side stand ? Sorry, don`t know where to get one unless finding a complete bottom frame rail on ebay which still has the switch on it.
or this one

Found problem. When I cut away the rubber wire cover at the switch, the switch fell off. Broken wire at switch. So had friend sodder (sp!) it up and wallaa, works again. Simple fix, just needed to look farther then power source for problem.

Does your sidestand stay down when the bike is pulled up straight? If not, there is a fix.

I wouldn`t go as far calling the sidestand modification a fix for a simple reason.
If you do it you better make sure the sidestand warning light is 100% functional and you should get used to look at the instrument panels warnning lights or at least check if the sidestand is really up when starting the engine and before taking off otherwise the next left turn could become expensive or even painful.
If you`re always aware of that it`s not a problem.

For future reference.

I picked up a later model kick stand and down switch for $40.00 on ebay. Since the 750 sport does not have a down switch I will not use it. But I guess you could wire in a instrument cluster light as a warning.

My sidestand was fixed to stay down when bike is upright. That's why I wanted the warning light to be working just in case I forgot to put the side stand up when off I go and it could be off if not up!!

I really did not like the "automatic" side stand retraction feature of the 907. Scared me since I never had a bike that did that before. Too out of the ordinary for daily use for me. Want the same side stand procedure on all of my bikes. Old age you know, forgetting things.

Thanks,

Yes,

I know several people who have dropped their Ducati's because of the self-retracting kick stand.

Francesco, I have a 750 Sport, no down switch and no warning light. But I was thinking about wiring in one now that I have the newer kick stand.

I think having the side stand pop up or not is a personal preference for sure.
I don't like it poping up by itself because of accidently dropping the bike. I did an easy fix to eliminate the automatic up feature. Just remove the existing bolt and file it down enough for the spring and plate to clear the top of the bolt. There is still enough of the hex left in the bolt to be able to remove it. On the 907 you can always look at the dash light (if the sun is not to bright) to see if it is up. However, I have ridden off and left the side stand down and it would catch the pavement and kick up without much fanfare. I just try to remember to kick it up when I ride off (which is more of an automatic reflex), I would rather do this than accidently drop the bike.
Personal preference.

I will never forget being in the local Ducati dealer's show room and getting on a used model that they had on the floor. It had the auto side stand and the minute I sat on the bike and set it upright, I had 2 sales people running to me when they heard the side stand go up! I had never been on a bike that did that and it scared the hell out of me since I did not know any bikes did that. Of course the sales people were well aware of what could happen to the unknowing person that sat on the bike so they were there in a flash. I understand the theory of it but when you have the warning light, I just prefer the standard old fashion way of my putting up the stand instead of relying on the bike to do it for me. If the 907 was my only bike then maybe I could get used to it.
