Okay first of all I have a 907ie so cannot cross reference by looking exactly.

I was checking out a 1999 Aprilia 250 this weekend and noticed that the wheels would actually look like a decent replacement on a Ducati which got me thinking about the awful tire choice you folks have with the 750/906 which I have offered my thoughts on else where already.

So why not the Aprilia

on the Aprilia Front suspension travel: 120 mm (4.7 inches) Paso 125mm
on the Aprilia Rear suspension travel: 130 mm (5.1 inches) Paso 135mm

Front tyre dimensions: 120/60-ZR17 Paso 130/60 -16
Rear tyre dimensions: 150/60-ZR17 Paso 160/60 -16

Front brakes: Dual disc
Front brakes diameter: 298 mm (11.7 inches) Paso = 280mm

Rear brakes: Single disc
Rear brakes diameter: 220 mm (8.7 inches Paso = 270mm


Obviously there is the sprocket, spindles and brake calipers to sort out but the dimensions seem more positive than negative and it's an idea.

Also on a positive side they seem fairly cheap and available as spares on ebay compared with some other alternatives and Italian (of sorts)

Okay lets discuss or ignore

It looks like 16" wheels are starting to be taken up by the racing faternity again. Yamaha endurance austria (Yart) are selling 16" PVM wheels

I mailed them about intermediate or wet tyres and they say that they are under development and not available to the public yet.

I am sure tyres will be available soon to the public.

Yes, I realise such tyres will not be road legal, but for those with an open mind who live in less policed parts of the world they are likely to be an ideal solution.

I think the point was that some wheels are easier to fit than others.

Problem is 17" look too big for the 750.

One of the other posts has a picture of a 750 with a set of wire wheels which look cool

if the axle diameters match that may be so, still it always needs lots of measuring and some parts machined.

I totally agree about the looks. Also there`re almost no rims that go well with the bikes design (in my opinion)
