Is it possible to get some original michelin tyres to the paso??

the answer is simply, no.
Some people still pay insane prices for those old tires you shouldn`t get near to even if someone gives them to you for free.
There are threads here about tire alternatives. Ducati Germany approved some tire combinations and you also can go for a 180/60-16. most will need some modifications. If you don´t want to make any it seems - according to what was posted here - that the Shinko is a quite narrow 180/60 and will fit with no further modifications.

I think that there is a small amount of "ultra caution " re old ish tyres. For sure ,if they have been stored in a glasshouse and regularly wiped down with acetone they will be very unsafe , but stored properly tyres can remain servicable ( admittedly not at their peak ) for a long time . I recently watched several classic cars , some worth millions ( no shit ) zipping round the track on 40 year old tyres , and , not so recently I went with a friend to examine a paso that was offered for sale ...... with old michelin tyres fitted . After the test ride I noticed the the rider had nearly used the full width of tread ( could easilly see the new wear ) and reported that " seems to handle pretty good ". Bit academic really coz as G points out there aint no more . If you do find some for sale , dont right them off just coz they are old ish , but do give em a good look over and ask how they have been stored . I heard of one tyre that started splitting the side wall as soon as an attempt was made to fit it , so you do have to be carefull

that`s exactly it. You never exactly know the tire`s condition even if it looks ok. Cracks may only show up when they are mounted. On a car the risk is smaller as you have 4 wheels. Sliding or a tire damage are quite different when sitting on a bike. But no matter how big or small that risk is the main reason to get other tires is the price. Looking at all Michelins A59X or M59X, new or used, sold on ebay over the past months the prices were mostly as high or even higher than for new tires. This is what doesn`t make any sense.

you can get the shrinko 180/60 16 for instance germany from

for 140 euro.

on ebay.com there are providers that sell the 180/60 and the 130/70 16 shrinko and sell it worldwide.
the set is cheap (220 US Dollar), but there is 100 Dollar extra for shipping.

I am sure there are much more possibilities to get this tire.

two points left:

1) I do not see that see that the smaler shinko 180/60 (compared to other 180/60) does fit in the paso without any modification. the two guys in this forum who uses these tires did make different modifcations (e.g., mike just grinted some of the tire sidewall away :-); popones worked with spacers

2) you can still get the shrinko 747 (180/60) that the two guys mentioned use. however, there is a new model called 757 now on the official skrinko webpage. does anyone know anything about differences or does anybody use this tire on a paso?
