Hi,

Who will lent me his/her special tool to remove the flywheel nut. The tool will hold the rotor and stop it from turning.

I live in Haarlem in the Netherlands.

If not, how knows where to buy?

Many thanks Joep

To remove the nut you don`t necessarily need the tool. If you have an impact wrench you can use that. (Supermarkets and car shops sell 12V impact wrenches for 20-30 Euros once in a while). Of course you cannot use that for assembly !
According to the Haynes manual you can also put the bike in high gear and hold the rear brake to loosen and tighten the nut. Not sure if I would do that as it puts a lot of stress on the gearbox. At least I wouldn`t recommend to do this more often.
If you are a customer from Startwin, Biggelaar or some other shop I would ask there if they may lend you the tool on a weekend, maybe for some small fee.

Many, many thanks,

I have used an air impact tool but it didn't loosen the nut... Or does it take a while?

Somebody suggested heat and an impact tool. But as always I'm afraid to demolish some other part(s) so I'll hope not to burn the engine.

Thanks again for your help.

heat won`t be necessary. I don`t know how strong your compressor is and what torque your impact tool reaches with the pressure given from your compressor. If you have a 25l air compressor like I do it`s 8bar max and the constant pressure it can deliver is maybe 6. No clue if that is enough.
My 12V impact wrench that I use for changing wheels on the car revvs up and then "hits". It may take 3-4 hits until the wheel nuts come loose and those are tightened with 120NM. I don`t recall exactly but the flywheel nut is somewhere around 140-190NM so it sits very tight. (btw does the nut have right or left hand thread?)

Yes got the nut off!!!

No special tool just patience and heat (to weaken the Loctite bond). I did use the air impact tool and some heat and cool down cycles.

FYI:
The compressor I used had 7 bar. The tool has the following specs: working pressure 6 bar, 360 l/min, 345 Nm

Now the next step is to change to another flywheel for a Kokusan ignition and tightend the nut again.

Does anyone knows which Loctite to use?

Paso 750, I think i might need the special tool after all in order to tightend the nut. Many thanks for your feed back and www links to the tools.

Cheers Joep

A little late into this thread
Loctite generally can be softened with a heat gun or hair dryer. It takes about 400F(204C) Propane can be used as a last resort away from anything remotely flammable. Take your time and use an impact gun while its hot. Clean all the treads with a wire brush before re applying any loctite products
