Gert,
No not at all. Really, the only thing I noticed was that my knees didn't ache until after lunch on a days ride and I could tell the pegs where lower and a little forward. It just felt better. With my knees not bending like they use to, when I ride my toes are aimed downward anyway which is why the gear selector and brake pedal are lower than the foot peg in order for my foot to be on top of the lever without having to pick up my foot from the peg. Really the only limitation on how low to move the footplates when using the plates I made is the linkage against the exhaust pipes, depending on what kind of exhaust pipes you may have. Also limiting the application would be the location of the top bolt in the circle opening of the frame area. If I where you I would make the relocating plates as shown moving them down as far as you can and try that first. The only thing you have to loose is the price of the aluminium and your time. If you need more, then get some of the adjustable foot pegs and use everything in whatever combination that works for you.

It doesn't seem those footpegs can really change the knees' angle.
Do you feel a real improvement of the comfort?
Ciao

Nice job. I have thought of the same thing for the 750 Sport project. My new project bike will be more upright, so lowering the pegs is something I have been contemplating. I like your plate idea. I will probably do it with 1/4" (6mm) aluminum plate to help space the pegs out just a bit so they clear the exhaust.

I have an ST4s and have used the peg lowering plates from Desmo Times http://www.desmotimes.com/ Click on ST parts and you will find his lowering brackets. (he's got a funny website and the links don't paste) They make the ST feel so much bigger, and much more comfortable.

I had thought of making the ST brackets myself, and thought to put a bunch of holes in the plates so I can adjust them, but alas, I just paid the money and called it good, and it was. The 999 had a series of holes and allowed for a lot of adjustment. I think all bikes should have adjustable footpegs, but apparently designers don't.

There are also adjustable lowering pegs carried by Paul Geller at Ducati Designs. http://www.ducatidesigns.com/inc/sdetail/3797. Pricey, but very nice. A lot less work, and will get you pretty close to where you want to be. Adjustable is nice. (Edit) I just followed the MFW Vario links and these are the same ones. In the US, you can also get them at Twisted Throttle.

Cheers,

Gert, how is it with the shift or brake pedal if the footpegs are now lower ? The shifter can be adjusted, but the brake pedal not. I wonder what that feels like.
(I wonder also if it would be possible to modify an original footpeg so it fits the MFW adjustible mount by cutting the footpeg and drilling a thread into it, hm ...)

Shifter no problem, just moved it out w 2 washer & adjusted lever.
Brake I have to lift my foot just a little.
Think I will make a new, shorter, rod on the back of brake pedal.

Gert,
Yes, you can shorten the rod to the brake to lower the brake lever. Also, you can remove the the lock nut around the set screw and reverse it for a little more adjustment. I think I cut a little of the brake rod off and used a dye to cut threads further up the shaft so I could still have the nut to lock the the end of the shaft.

Paso750:
I am working on what you suggest, using a OEM footpeg with the adjustable footpegs arm. I believe I will use a set of rear OEM footpegs because there is more solid alumn to work with. I believe I can remove the rubber and drill a hole slightly offset so that a allen screw can be insert from under the rubber into the adjustable footpeg arm. I would also use a small steel pin offset from the main hole so the peg would not twist. Anyway, once I get it worked out I will post pictures.
