Howdy,
wanting to replace coils, Dyna "green" gets a mention when searching, any other recommendations?

There is a listing in the 750 FAQ on what others have used successfully. The important thing is they be in the 3 to 5 ohm range

The only two I know of are the Dyna Green and the Nology coils.
If you are in a pinch, search the Harley hop up sites. They have the same needs, and usually cross reference. I got my set from a Harley rider who had them sitting on the shelf. Been working for the past 5 years.

Cheers,
Phil

NOLOGY: ProFire PFC-30S (152 051 300)
Andrews: CW140403
Dyna Coils: CW DC3-1
original coils of Monster/SS (primary 3.8-5.2 ohms, secondary 10.8K - 16.2K ohms, plug cap 5K ohms)
Silent Hektik: MotoCoil (recommended only for use with Silent Hektik ignition module as coil resistance is 2.7 ohms)

note: listed NOLOGY, ANDREWS, DYNA COILS are coils with 3 ohms primary resistance . Using coils with lower resistance can lead to ignition module damage.

Nigel, you might find you need a bracket as well. You can make your own or order one from several sources.

So coils installed, I made a alu plate , about 100mm long, to go across and join the coils from one side to the other, where the old coils were. Covered it in thick shrink adhesive conduit and cut out places so it earthed to the old mount.
Cut the wires, blue to +, and green to -.

The red+ is not touching the shrink, well insulated from the plate

Thinking to make another plate to join the bottom mounts to the old coil bracket

The holes cut look a lot better than here,

I added some cable ties to stop it vibrating, may make a lower plate later when I have some time.

Certainly started well and idled from cold a lot better, about 15c ambient temp. Seems its usual healthy, on the freeway a quick twist and up to 140kmh. The quicker starting is what i was looking for, so happy there

However, and there is always a however with these bikes :banghead: , under full load it hesitated a couple of times, but then cleared. Sort of like its oiling up the plugs.
A few hard accelerations and its all gone.
Newish plugs; NGK iridiums only a few hundred kms old, new plug leads - magencors.

I did change the pipes from the Staintune Contis to Staintune with the 'tube end' . They seem a little quieter but don't see any reason why they would cause a misfire.

Thanks Higgy,
what gap do you suggest?
From memory I think they are at 0.7mm
ciao

NGK IX plugs can be gapped as wide as .9mm. Try .8mm first then .9 if you need more.............you should not need more than 0.9mm
