can I use an OHLINS from a Paso750 on the 907ie?

As Gert stated, i have done such and without any problems. BUT if u do so, then i give advice: Make new and longer that steel braided line to adjusting knob, as then You can remove that knob from difficult place to outside to reach it better. That 750 Paso Öhlins is still easy to fix in Öhlins maintin shop and still they find all spare parts to it. Not very expensive! Most of those Öhlins problems are caused because that knob is not turned enough often (that told to me just Öhlins maintainer!). Mine had also just that problem (preload adjuster didnt work anymore). I put such to my another 907IE and i have already such in my 750 Paso. Much better compared to Marzhocci Duo remoto unit.

I fitted 1 to a 907 a while back and wore a hole in the mudguard. I did ride 2up a lot and am on the heavy side myself although I did get the spring upgraded when I had it rebuilt. My road has speed humps which didnt help.

I just had a look to the manuals.

the P750 was released with two different Shocks, the OHLINDS CA508 and the marzocchi Supermono Unit.

the 906 and the 907 had BOTH the Marzocchi DUOSHOCK remoto 38.


By reading the manuals it appears that the P750 REAR suspension was less complex that the 906/907ie one.

I am not familiar with the Supermono Unit , although it is my understanding it had a preload remote knob similar to the Ohlins CA508.

It had ONLY a rebound adjustable setting, whilst the compression was fixed.

On the opposite the Marzocchi DUOSHOCK remoto 38 is more sophisticated allowing the adjustments for Compression, rebound and preload.

Are we sure the Ohlins unit is BETTER?

I am very puzzled, I have 3 units (two marzocchi Duos & 1 Ohlins) and I don't know where to put my money on.


Last thing I forgot...

the Paso 750 has 136mm of rear suspension travel, the same goes for the 906 but there is NO mention of the SHOCK strock for the P750, only the 906 which is around 80mm

I checked the 907ie and it has only 66mm !!!!! I have not found the wheel stroke tho'

is this for real???!??? is all due to a different linkage, shock, or what?



I undertsnad the 17" wheels need more cleareance, but I really dont get the difference between the 750 and the 906. Now I understand why there were 3 different codes for the rear Hyperpro springs....

Marzhocci unit can carry more weight and its very hard compared to Öhlins unit, so it depends alot, do You drive alone without heavy packages, or via versa. Öhlins function better in "alone driving", especially for my (light!!!) weight, 77kg no matter in 750 P or in 907IE

Öhlins have much better spring preload adjuster, as Marzhocci have difficult "tool tuning" one.

I wonder if anyone could check if the workshop manual for the 907 indicates the wheel travel at the rear..

I checked the pdf files and unfortunately that particular page is missing... the only indication is the Stroke (66mm) but not the wheel travel.

Anyone with the book at hand?

Due to deeper tray of the 907 holding our beloved P7 ECU the stroke is more restricted.
I have a Proflex unit mounted, which is a little longer and has more travel.
Thats why my tray opened.
I guess I swap the spring for a stiffer one, as I have a fair stroke of negetive travel.
I ditched the Marzocchi as it displayed strange behaviour. during the first part of the rebound stroke there was no damping at all and then kicking in brutally.
Results? tortured back.
