Had the front tyre changed on my Paso last friday.

I had to remove the front fender because the 130/70-16 would not rotate otherwise.

OK, I was just checking out the front wheel, the fairings and the front fender and I think there´s something wrong.

Isn´t there supposed to be a spacer between the wheel and the front fork???

Not on the lefthand side where the speedometer cable goes, but on the other side (right hand) of the wheel.

Been trying to check the workshop manual and the internet for a proper picture, but no luck. At least not yet. Anyhow, I think I´m losing my mind here. Should there be a somekind of spacer or no?

Here is a photo of my right front fork tube, spacer and wheel.
Possibly this will help?

Thanks, a good picture.

Is the spacer just a narrow washer nearest to the wheel, or are there two separate parts there? Or what, cant tell for sure from the picture.

Well after looking closer I'm not sure. It could be that the spacer is flanged, but I think its actually a washer. Does yours have the spacer and/or washer as in the above picture? Is there side to side movement of the wheel? Is the wheel closer to one of the fork tube rather than the other?

It's too nice of a day for me to pull things apart - sorry!

Also, after you removed the front fender did you replace the aluminum fork bracket? You can also stack washers or find spacers to raise that front fender - about 1/2" will do fine.

the fender is no problem.

I had to get the tire changed at the parts dealer because my car broke down so I could not just take wheel there.

So took off the fender at the dealers and rode home on friday

Today I started getting into raising the fender, but noticed the gap between the fork and the wheel. The thing is i´m not absolutely sure how it was before I took it to the shop but suspicion started creeping in my mind.

I have to check in the morning, since it´s allready dark outside, but I thnik there was nothing excecpt the bare axle on the right side of the wheel now.

I think the wheel is centered properly, but have to check tomorrow.

Hmm . . . well I believe if you are missing the spacer and/or washer then the front discs and pads should be rubbing due to wheel play i.e. side to side movement of the wheel on the axle.

Center stand the bike and get the front wheel off the ground and give it a spin. Any sloppiness should give rise to concern indeed!

Hi
on the 750 sport (same wheels, brakes and forks, except for damp adjust) the axle is the spacer. As you put the front axle in from the left - standing in front of the bike - it slides all the way through the forks and wheel and the last part of the axle is at a diameter where it faces up to the wheel bearing inner and acts as the spacer. I know this after looking for a "spacer" for half a day when rebuilding my sport!

If you did not have spacer (on the axle) you could never tighten up the axle correctly without distorting the forks and jamming the wheel etc. So if you have ridden the bike since its all good.

Yeah, I think I now, that I panicked over nothing.

Guess it was because I couldn´t take the wheel to the shop separately, because my car broke down and because of that did not take the wheel out of the bike myself I just started looking at the front wheel and thinking: "what if the guy screwed up somehow?"

Double-checked everything this morning and rode the Paso to work. (pretty chilly, it was only +2 degrees celsius here this morning). Anyhow everything seemed to be working fine. (except that the frontwheel met with the fairings a few times on larger bumps, the front shocks are to be serviced tomorrow)

Thanks for the input guys.
