I'm not sure. I really dont have time to rebuild the one thats on the bike now. It would be easier if I could get another one.

not that I`m trying to talk you out of this but if removing the starter you´ll have to remove the left engine cover, frame rail etc.
Changing the brushes can be done with the starter in place so that should take less time and be cheaper also.

Sorry, I didn't see the link in your post. The problem now resides in where to purchase said brushes.

if you have a Kawasaki or Honda dealer around you could try there with the part numbers from that topic.
Someone also had posted this once:

on the bottom there are the repair parts

Is the removal and replacement of the brushes a complicated effort or is it a pretty simple process? I have a Paso shop manual but it really doesn't go into detail regarding starter repair.

I`ve done it so many years ago I can`t really remember. Only the starter cable and the two screws need to be removed to get the end cap off.
There`re probably some topics here. Try the search function.

If you try,
DO mark thorougly how the top, middle & end part of housing mates!
Could take alot of time to figure out otherwise.
Not a complicated taskbut abit fiddly.

Gert, are you referring to the removal and replacement of the starter
or of the brushes.

that´s mainly when you disassemble it (see the manual in my link above). For the brushes you only have to remove the rear cover.
It still would be a good idea though to make some marks on the housing before opening the starter motor as it will make fiddling in the two long screws in easier. If they don`t go back in you can verify with the marks if something has moved.

Dunno if you could remove long bolts & cover on a 750 Paso w/o spinning the housing.

I was referring to brush replacement.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm gonna give it a whirl. I'll try to just replace the brushes if I can find them where I live. I'll post later how it is , again thanks.

You could also check MCC (motor cycle center) Villa Park, Illinois. They've been a ducati dealer for a long time. teammcc.com
