Just scored a pair of 17's 3 1/2" and 5 1/2" with disc's & sprocket ( already had a 17 x 4 1/2" ), and I have nutted out the rear end, but I want to keep the original type swing arm , dont want a 907 swingarm , but I want to lengthen the original and I figure that if I could get 2 swing arms I could cut and shut them to make one , with only one weld line , and I want to keep one original , sooo if any one in NZ has a spare ( or 2 ), no objection to sprocket bolt damage, Id love to hear from you .
The plan , roughly , is to fit the 900ss rear wheel ,sprocket carrier, axle & nuts ,spacers and floating SS caliper and bracket, and making up new excenters. The left with 5mm less on the inner side and the right recessed to accomadate the caliper bracket bushes , and both to suit the 17mm axle, and will look at keying the axle to the excenters ( Im gunna leave that to Harry the machinist ). Not sure wether I will end up machining rear sprocket carrier or fiddling with the front sprocket to get chain allignment right , depends too on wether I wind up using the 4 1/2" or 5 1/2" wheel. If anyone can see a reason why this might not work fercrissake say sommat!  I also have a choice of 300mm or 320mm disc's for the front ....... comments? :)

Hi,
Got 2 750 swing-arms , 1 I'm keeping as it came off my 750, the other was my plan B if the 907 swing-arm didn't work.
It 's been mod'd to take a larger tire by moving the brace forward (see pic's ). PM me if your interested.

P.S. I went with 300mm rotors as the guzzitech caliper adapters work with 280/300mm, no mucking around :D :D

I`d go for 320mm discs as those are easier to find and there`s a bigger choice on the market. The caliper adapters for 300/320mm discs can be found in the downloads.
Regarding lengthening the swingarm, why not this:

I have both sizes of disc, the 320's off the SS and 300's that came with the wheels. I was going to go with the 300's but only coz I didnt know I could get caliper brackets to suit the 320's
and as for the swingarm adapters.... why not ? .... coz they look fuckin awful thats why not :)

Just a minute.
Tony has 2 x Paso 750 swingarms and Hamish has found 2 other swingarms. So, what has happened to 4 x Pasos?

Fraser.

Mctool,

For the chain alignment on my 906 with a SS rear wheel I ended up keeping the OEM SS rear sprocket carrier and just shimming the front sprocket to align it all. I forget the dimensions - I'll check next time I get a chance to take the cover off.

Mine is the 4.5in 750SS rear wheel though.......not sure how much if any more the sprocket carrier is wider on the SS 5.5in rim. Might be the same with less chain clearance to the tyre but I doubt it.

Cheers,

Mick

Yeah , I did a bit of a search on the topic , and your name came up a few times :) .
The 750 and 900 wheels ( 4 1/2'" & 5 1/2" )do have the same sprocket spacing, and with mine I have to either fit the ss front sprocket or fit the paso one tother way round . Ive got it pretty much sussed , I am using the SS wheel ,axle and nuts caliper bracket and sprocket carrier assy . I am going to get new excenters made to suit the 17mm axle size and by removing ( compared to original ) 4mm off the inside of the left excenter and actually recessing the caliper bracket bush into the right side excenter it all fits and lines up. front is easy too, I am using matching ss front wheel and speedo drive and I have to move the wheel to the left by the same 4mm as the rear ( I am going to have to get the left inner fork leg machined,) and it looks like I will have to make my own caliper brackets as it would appear that the brackets available are to fit 4 pots to a standard paso wheel / fork assy where the disc's are 140mm apart and the ss wheel disc's are only 120mm apart, but its all do-able :banghead:

Mate,

Sounds like it's sorted then :) Let me know if drawings / photos of my adaptors and such are of any use.

I stuck with the paso speedo and made up an adaptor to mate the SS wheel drive plate to the paso speedo drive. Machining the fork leg was too much for me :) With a 120/60 front tyre the speedo is actually still accurate

The front brake caliper adaptors I used are from this site :)

Cheers and good luck - photos please!

Cheers,

Mick

Cheers Mick, I would be interested in seeing a photo or drawing of your caliper adaptors, and Yes an adaptor for the paso speedo drive is certainly worth a look. I dont mind so much the machining of the left fork leg , its just all the mucking round pulling everthing to bits , Ive just rebuilt those forks and I really cant be arsed pulling them to bits again. I might put out some feelers for a pair of 907 forks as these would solve a few problems , but as I have just spent a ( nother ) thousand bucks on this bike and it hasnt even moved, mmmmmm $
