Hi,

these endless tire discussion always make me freak out
Sorry for this, it`s just that this topic gets discussed and the rediscussed a.s.o.
In this case of course it`s different as it`s about tire alternatives, but also here do not compare a 750 Sport and a Paso. They may be identical in many points, but the rear suspension, swingarm, linkage etc is different.
There`s a dealer in Germany offering a conversion to a 130/70-16 and 180/60-16. I had mentioned this in another post. This dealer also includes TÜV which means that it`s streetlegal with official permission. Of course it requires some mods like shifting the sprockets etc.
There have been comments in other posts that these tire sizes are cruiser sizes and made for heavy bikes like the Goldwing that`s why they weren`t suitable for the Paso and I partly agree.
These persons refer to tires like this one here:

http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/Pro ... &SubCat=20

Of course this tire is the wrong choice also because of the H speed index.
But Avon offers another one which is this one (AM23 w/ V speed index):

(if the link doesn`t work check PRODUCTS and CUSTOM)

http://store.wpsracing.com/avamwihi16re2.html

http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcrob/avonam22.html

This is a performance tires and used for classic racing also.
There`s also a matching front tire I just can`t recall which model it was.
I personally see this as an alternative as I do not want to switch to 17" wheels although I once had started this project with a different fork and Marchesini wheels.
I`m now back to 16" Marvics and when the engine is completely finished and I get to the suspension this will be what I`ll use.

Gerhard

the front tire is a AV45 Azaro

Chain and sprockets need to be changed to 520.
Side and center stand lengthened and front fender raised.

As you can see on the Avon homepage the 180/60 is also recommended for a 5" rim, which a 150/80 isn`t.

Here some info about the speed index, for who says that VR is unsufficiant as the old tires are Z rated. (which original aso gets even near to 240km/h (150mph) ?

Hi guys, go to main point! Are there any suitable alternate for Michelins rear tires(which still can be found from normal tireshop), WHICH SOMEBODY HAVE TESTED to 750 PASO ??????

I can also buy Marvics from my friend, but those are different size, than normal Paso Oscams, so we are now talking OSCAMS, not Marvics!

Finnpaso

ps, for me 17" conversion is much more viser, than Marvics. Much more suitable tires to 17" BTW, i have allready one 907IE hole rear swingarm with brakes and wheel waiting 17" conversion. I measured fastly, that it will fit to 750 Paso engine. But still need front 17" wheel, easiest way would be find hole 907IE M1R (not so easy job!)

ps 2. Mr."G": At least mine 750 Paso have had always 520 chain and sprockets.......

forget the Marvics, I only mentioned them because I have those wheels. The tires mentioned and the TÜV approval are for the stock Oscam wheels.
The Marvics btw have the same size on the rear and on the front it`s a 3.5x16 instead of a 3.75x16. So what`s mentioned remains an alternative.

The wheels I have are from a 1988 851. So the very first tricolore.

Here`s the only pic I could find. The one in front has Marvic "one-piece" mag wheels. I think these are 17". The 851 on the rear has the 16" Marvics.

http://ariekabaalstra.web-log.nl/

The Montjuich had a 3.75x16 and a 4.25x16. I`m not sure about the Santamonica.
Did the Laguna Seca also have Marvics ?! I thought it had the Oscam wheels.
