If you ride anything long enough regardless of skill level you will someday fall. I wouldn't worry about it, just be prepared. Learn to drive defensively.Always look ahead and NEVER EVER EVER ride to your limit on the street. Always leave yourself an exit for every situation., Want to be Racer X ? keep it on the track.

Very wise words.
Pity, I don't manage to do it. Not always, at least.
I hope you recover soon. The bike will be repaired later...
I felt down with my black 907. Quite standing still into the garage of my friend nojapan :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( .

haha!! genius ideas from the think-tank down-under...

make the side stand the key!!
that way you MUST remove the stand before you can start the bike...problem solved.

if the stand is in the way (restricting your greater viewing while riding pleasure) you can use a convenient milk crate on the seat to elevate the riding height.
Milk crates come in a variety of colours to suit most 907 models - except those ghastly yellow ones...

option 2 is to attach the key to the side stand with wire...of a suitable length so that it will only reach the lock when the stand is folded up.
This might attract bike thieves so it is suggested to put the key UNDER the stand foot; this is highly secure - nobody ever looks there...
A pair of wire cutters is recommended to be carried at all times in case of hooking up with passing cement mixers.

option 3 is to remove the stand and use it for a bar ornament / talking piece... (perhaps cunningly converted into a bottle opener)
the 907 can be leaned up against a convenient tree or parked car...the tree's not going anywhere and who'd be silly enough to drive off if you lean it against the driver's door?
this also encourages the use of council-supplied bicycle racks; these racks are designed to be able to withstand a Caterpillar D9 dozer but are only used for flimsy ultra-lightweight pedal-pushers - such a waste!!! it could be argued by local parking inspectors that the 907 isn't a bicycle...but then again how many mountain bikes have ever seen a mountain?? Why can they park there?? Let them eat cake...(oops, wrong forum). I'd be happy to defend the charge for travelling fee and expenses...no Magistrate in his right mind could possibly dismiss the appeal on the grounds of rider safety, even if they did what's a few nights in the lock-up compared to peace-of-mind that fucking side stand won't kill you or destroy the pride and joy??

yanno - you meet the nicest people in jail..."you scrub my back - I'll scrub yours..."
and jail would be even nicer if more "nice" people were prepared to go; accepting jail sentences for lesser charges like busking or parking infringements...
just think - instead of being full of hardened criminals there'd be a wider variety of the public - all "doing time..." and lessening the social stigma of being a convicted offender...so that all those poor guys inside wouldn't be discriminated against or feel bad...
"what are you in for...?"
"Littering..."
"where are your shoe-laces...?"
"they don't want any hangings..."

A fellow that saw my accident said I flew through the air for 30 or so feet about 7 feet off the ground landing on my head and shoulder. I'm beginning to loosen up.
Picked up the bike this past Thursday. Looks like Im going to need some forks. The upper and lower triple clamps are in alignment but the wheel is to the left a little. Im going to release all the bolts and let the forks "relax" then check again, or maybe I'll just release them and see if they are bent. I'm going to need new fairing lowers and the upper fairing, new head light, new front mounting frame, new fender, fork brace. I have most of the parts for the tail light.
e-bay here I come.

You need to loosen everything on the front end and bounce it a few times it may just be tweaked. If they are in fact bent the tubes can usually be straightened on a press if there is no other damage. Most crashes it is the fairing stay takes the brunt of the damage. I have personally straightened a few frames over the years as well

Best of luck to you sorting her out

I first loosen the forks but no change. I pulled the wheel off and it seems OK but the axle is bent. Pull the forks off and both are bent. Everything still works, but they are diffinitely bent. Starting to wonder if the bike is worth it. I paid $7000 for the bike new. I wrecked near Grandfather Mt. in N.C. about 8 years ago and that cost me $3000 in repairs. I had the motor rebuilt about 3 years ago and that was another $2000 plus. So now I'm starting to wonder about how much it's goning to cost this time.

Can you take it apart your self? Forks if not marred can easily be straightened all you need is your typical hydraulic jack and a jig. Most vehicle shops have one. Axles are generally not worth the trouble unless you are competent at the proper heat treating, not difficult but if you don't have the proper skills and a 50lb box of arsenic laying in a corner buy a new one. So if you have the time and access for the cost of an axle and fork seals and fluid the front end can be reborn in a weekend.

Here are some more pictures of my wrecked bike.
I have found a new headlight. Got a lead on some body work from a member of this site. I found a business that can straighten my forks and the front wheel. The hardest thing so far is trying to bend the subframe piece at the headlight. That thing is hard to hold to get leverage to bend. Haven't found a used one yet that is not bent more than mine, so still looking.

Nice to see you repair the bike, would be a shame to see it butchered.
Must be enough oil to get the process smoothly running looking at all the green oil flacons the floor. . . .
