Ok Dave, I think your main problem is that the black and green wire that went to the old reg, needs to go to an ignition source, some where that is live when the ignition is turned on.NOT TO THE BLACK AND GREEN WIRE ON THE NEW REGULATOR.You can test this by touching it to the solenoid wire and seeing if your dash lights up,but you can't leave it there as it will be live all the time and flatten your battery.
Join the two yellow altenator wires together and connect them to one of the generator wires on rr51.
join the red altenator wire to the other generator wire on the rr51.(the gen wires should both be yellow or yellow and white ?)
join the pink wire and red solenoid wire together and connect to the red wire on rr51
connect the black and green wire on the rr51 to the battery negative terminal or a good earth.
I think the blue wire has to go to the skinny white wire on the rr51,not 100% sure though.
This information should be correct, but please use common sense when hooking it up as I won't be responsible for you melting your loom.

Jay.
I was just looking at the wiring diagram to see if I could spot somewhere for you to tap into the ignition wiring,I assume you have mounted the regulator under the seat.If so,I think one or more of the fuses should go live when the ignition is turned on ,check with a test light, which one and tap into the wiring coming out of the correct fuse, make sure that you are on the correct side of the fuse though so your modification is also fused.
