Hey guys, new to the forum, but have been around Ducs since 92. At that time, my selling dealer had the 900SS which I bought along with a new 907 Paso and 2 Superlights which were pre sold... Wish I had bought the Paso!!
Anyway, just made a valiant attempt to purchase a nice 92' on Ebay yesterday. Pushed the "bid now" button too fast. Other gent had enough time to regroup and outbid me... Didn't have enough info to bid any more than I did.
Anyway, would say that I'm casually looking for a nice example. Preferably 92 or 93. Anyone have one they don't ride much?
Just resurrected a low mileage 851 Strada last year. Know how to and where from to obtain parts. So don't look at the possibility of me owning your bike and not taking care of it.

The only way to win consistantly on auction sites is to use a bidding agent. A bidding agent will put in your bid at the last minute avoiding a bidding war. Of course you could still loose if someone else has a higher maximum bid but it will avoid last minute panic bidding and keep what you are willing to pay to a predetermined price.

Higgy, thanks for agreeing with how I had gone about bidding on this particular bike. What I did was wait and submit one bid that had the maximum I could afford. Problem was, I should have waited until 1 minute versus 2 minutes before the auction was over. Over the course of bidding on Ebay, sometimes the bid goes through quickly and other times there is a pause..
Tend to go through life with the attitude being whatever was meant to be is.
Will be fun continuing my search for a 907. Kind of like being given that "second-chance" of seeing whether this is something I really did want..

I use esnipes snipe-it puts a tool bar right on ebay
easy to set up, puts the bid in at the 6 second mark before the end of the auction.
I enter in the max I am willing to pay. Snipe it automagically puts the bid in and also will notify me when I have been outbid in case I wish to reconsider which I rarely do
One real nice feature is I can enter bids on multiple items on multiple auctions so if I get outbid on one it moves to the next item till you have a winning bid.

I have often watched some folks pay more than retail for items just cuz they have to win.

I do the same putting a bid on last seconds without any app.
I knew about those bid applications, but never tried.
I fear about data stealing, considering they often are web apps.
Am I wrong?

I'm a little suspicious, even with who say they don't store any personal data.
A little example.
Not long ago, I have started my first account on Facebook.
I put FB did'nt have access to my e-mail account to search my friends.
But, I don't know why (or I do know), FB at once suggested I could know Antti, who had sent me an e-mail for Christmas.
Perhaps, we don't have to think too much about our privacy...

facebook,twitter and even google these days is a completely different animal.
the last day to keep google from tracking you was yesterday. I gotta tell you google targeted resources suck,I don't need them.............they keep you in a box limit your choices and info you can find,but they are not the big satan of the internet just need time to work it out.

Ebay and its associated siblings are so far free of most privacy compromising associations, well at least as well protected as any other internet resource.
Paypal also sucks in my opinion but there just ain't any one else to do what they do.

But the internet being what is is these days,if you have a need to be completely ambiguous stay off it, of course then the powers that be will still sort you out wondering why you choose to be ambiguous and not participate

I fully agree with you.
I only hate the fact they don't tell us they pick and keep our data, so that we can choice how to do, using a service or don't do it.
I think everybody must to know which data will be "stolen" (as my friendship with Antti), so we can remain ambiguous as regard as that specific service.
