Hello All!

I'm trying to fit Paso crankcases to an F1 engine and was wondering about the swinging arm bearings. On the F1 they're large plain bearings and on the Paso, there seems to be an alloy 'plug' in the same casing with a bored out opening for a much smaller pivot pin. How easy is it to remove the 'plug' and attach a mounting ring or something to take the larger oil seals and restore the width of the lug for the swinging arm? Has anyone done this? Any help gratefully received!

Tha paso swingarm pivot is a long bolt that goes the whole width of the bike and the swingarm pivots on this bolt , with the bearings being in the arm itself . The paso pivot goes thru the frame on one side , the swing arm on same side , the cases , swingarm on other side and finally the frame on other side , and does not rotate. The F1 pivot rotates in the cases ( on the bearings you mention ) and the swing arm clamps to the pivot. Totally different set up. I think that the paso cases may also be narrower at the pivot point. You might be better off with a set of SS cases

Hello Mc Tool,

thanks for the reply-I thought the SS series used a swinging arm pivot mounted on needle rollers with a smaller diameter pivot pin than the F1? Unfortunately, it's difficult to pin (hoho) down what system was used from Ian Falloon's book on the 2V twins. Any information would be welcome,

Cheers, MikeJ.

Yes , my SS has needle rollers and about the only other thing I know is that the SS spindle is 20mm :)
