so it`s just a bit of polishing for the stanchion tubes ...

I wonder if that quick action throttle kit says something about how the bike was ridden in the past

Cleaned the calipers up a bit...



....and the forks legs.It's an easy job to take these off at a later date for a proper paint



And I discovered my daughter has one of these.It's only a cheapy so might not work but I'll give it a try.



The fork stem bearing shells are in the freezer so hopefully I'll have the triple clamps on tomorrow.

Not to much to report.I put both bearing shells in the steering head and put the triple clamps back on.




Next up is a cleanup of the swingarm.I thought about polishing it for about 2 seconds then reminded myself that I didn't want to be polishing it for the rest of my life .

The swingarm has been cleaned and the chain adjusters have been given a once over.My photography seems to be lacking of late .



And now the fun part....aligning the shims while holding the swingarm and sliding the spindle in .



That was too easy.....I must have left something out

It's from an SS and about 10mm longer.Next up will be to put the front end on...hopefully on the weekend.I usually tighten everything up as I go so as not to leave anything loose but this time I'm going to leave things until I'm sure I don't have to take everything apart because I forgot to put the doohicky on

Lets make a start on these.


One down and one to go.I'm not going to waste time getting the surface rust off the cast iron rotors,the first ride will do that for me.


Now onto the rim.The polishing seems to be holding up ok after 18 months or so . A bit of loctite and all is good.


Right fork in...check




Left fork in...check.


I'd better give this a good clean before I put the wheel on.




And on she goes.





The rusty discs make it look a bit crappy but that'll change with a ride.

Now that looks a bit more like it.




Some new shiny locknuts.


Tomorrows job.Clean up the rotor and put the back wheel on.



I guess there's still a fair bit to go .





I'll try and get some more done tomorrow and post pics.
