Ok,so where was I.I had a day off yesterday from the bike.Sometimes you just have to step back.I found I was getting impatient and only doing half a job.
So today I started on the fuel lines.

These have seen better days :dunno: .

So off they come.

You can see how hard they are.

And they were hard to get off the Y piece. In the end I had to cut them off.Oh lloky,a main jet.

That would be a 120.

Put it back in the new line.

Then put it all back together.

Much better.I'm going to put some quick disconnect couplings on the lines eventually.

I put in a new bolt for the sidestand mount due to a dodgy thread.

The tank supportd were a right bugga to put on.I should have done it earlier.I don't know how they got a nyloc nut on them with only the rubber to hold onto on one end.Anyway I put a nut and split washer on instead and trying to put it on from underneath with one finger was a nightmare. :banghead:

I couldn't help myself again and put the seat unit on before I cleaned it.

I took it off to clean though.
Bugga, more cleaning. It's these little things that are really slowing me down.Never mind,it's got to be done.Does anyone have any idea what the homemade tin thing on the left might be for?.

Cleaner.I thought I might not have the sprocket cover but it was hiding in a cupboard.

These will have to be replaced...

...but for now a good clean will have to do.

Time to put the front guard on but first a ( all together ) clean  .

[

I put some clear contact where there was obvious signs of rubbing. And on she goes with some thread locker for the fork brace.

Ooh...that's blurry. You'll just have to trust me that it's all been washed.

Tomorrows jobs are to adjust the steering head bearings, tighten the remaining bolts up the front and just maybe fit some bodywork.I'll be leaving the tank off for the moment as I have a new air filter ordered.Once I'm happy with it all I'll be removing the lower bodywork and changing the fluids.

Cheers
Andrew

I'm sorting through this lot at the moment.Lot's of putting on and taking off as some of the screws seem to be missing.

Soooo, could anyone please tell me where the rubber washers go ( top left ).The spares sheet seems to say under the seat in the rear holes but it doesn't make sense to go there or fit properly.

Cheers
Andrew

P.S. did anyone reading this go ...soooo in their mind   .I did when I spell checked it

Now I'm thinking they might go at the bottom front mounts of the seat base.Between the frame and fibreglass.

Cheers
Andrew

Andrew,

The thick rubber washers are for the front lower mounts on the seat units, and act as a spacer as well.

No. 26 in the picture, 1 each side, mine had perished so made up up new ones.

Cheers

Peter

Ok,which one of you blokes neglected to tell me about the bracket that needs to be installed behind the oil cooler  .

It would have much easier before everything went on  .

Now I can put the front fairing on :choo: .

Followed by one half of the fairing.

Then the other side.

On with the seat base.Luckily....acyually very luckily I checked that the key would work on the ducktail before putting the seat on.Nope,it was catching on something.Phew...I would have been pissed off  .
so off with the seatbase for a look at the lock. Not good. The round bit has rust on it and the piece ( technical terms here  ) that pushes it is not smooth.

Hey,let's do something different...le't clean it :choo: :banghead: .

All cleaned with fresh grease. On with the rear indicators.

More tonight.I've got to go out for tea.Be back in a couple of hours. How about that for leaving you in suspense   .

Cheers
Andrew

Now where was I.....the seat base.On it goes.

And the next photos are curtesy of my son,Braydon, the tool borrower who doubled the time to do this job by not putting things back where he found them   .Done!!!!!!.

And our favourite.

I have one or two small things to finish off but basically that's it.I would like to thank my sponsors,Mr wire wheel,Mr Autosol,Mr paint stripper and Mr wet and dry ( all grades ) and everyone that helped with info   .
I'll be posting more as I make improvements and finish off the small details and will also post about getting the MHR up to spec for classic rego if you're interested.

Cheers
Andrew

Braydon did a fine job with the photography. Snap, snap. click, click. Say no more!

You sir are a noble prince. Thank you so much for documenting your work. For all of us, it was extremely interesting, informative, intimate and educational. The posting has been fantastic. Hats off, you have my deep respect for your intentions and your actions.

Won't your workmate feel silly when he surmises what an idiot he was.
