Friends:
I just acquired a 1988 Paso 750 with just about 14000 miles.
I bought it despite the fact that it runs a bit rough. It tends to backfire, won't hold its idle when coming to a stop, and has a pretty bad flat spot at just around 6000rpm. I had read enough online to expect that carb problems are typical of the model series.
I have the bike at home and have done a teardown of the body panels. The carb had a rebuild kit in it 2000 miles ago, and that was over one year ago. The cam belt was replaced, but there is no indication that the valves were done. I just removed the tank, set the idle to 1500rpm and ran some carb cleaner through the motor.
The bike seems to be in good condition, and everything seems present.
The flat spot is still there, and so is the stalling, but stalling problem has improved. Please let me know if anyone has any helpful ideas. I am not a mechanic, but I am a fair tinkerer. My plan is to get this bike running well and looking good for spring.
Thanks in advance,
Brett
